5.0 out of 5 stars A very good COLREGS book, January 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Navigation Rules: International-Inland (Paperback)
This is the "bible" that no boat should be without. It covers all the navigation rules that mariners are required to know, and is the basis for the NavRules for Windows program. The text of this book is included in an on-line help file with NavRules for Windows, and all the lights, dayshapes, and sound signals covered in the book are included in the NavRules program.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep this book onboard at all times., September 19, 2000

This review is from: Navigation Rules: International-Inland (Paperback)
The single objective of this book is to prevent collisions at sea. Licensed Captains must know this book from cover to cover but all boaters should have this little gem onboard at all times.

In fact, it is required to be onboard vessels 12 meters or more in length by Federal Law.

The book provides both International and Inland Rules and includes: vessel hierarchy (who has the right of way), Steering and sailing rules, lights and shapes and sound and light signals.

Ok, so you're cruising at night and see three white vertical lights off your bow. Trust me, you better know that this is a tugboat towing astern and the barge under tow exceeds 200 meters from the stern of the tugboat. That's right, exceeds 200 meters can be two miles....And when 'Mister tug' signals you with 5 short blasts, he is not saying "Hi, have a nice day".

No, this is not an easy reading fun filled book but it could save your life. Don't think twice about buying this book, just buy it and keep it handy. - Sig@SeaDolphin.com

The information enclosed in this book is a must for any Boater. The language is so clear and straight forward that even my Ten yr old was able to pass the Knowledge test for a boating license. If he was old enough he would have His.
