5.0 out of 5 stars .......WIN WORLD WAR2 [1944]
....Period piece lost to history by now...not a bad production by Pine-Thomas film/makers in co-features a one hour movie before main feature was shown on Saturday's....good looking Robert Lowery does NOT get the top/main billing as colleague Bill Henry gets the nod...he's OK too but never made another impression once the big shots came home from WW2 later...like I said,...

I retired from the US Navy some time back after a little over 24 years of service. So many of the Boot Camp scenes were very familiar to me. The movie was like a walk down memory lane. Things have change since then but the pride, the honor and the commitment remains the same. It all starts in Boot Camp! I encourage anybody who wants to know what their uncle did when he first enlisted in the US Navy and went to Boot Camp to see this movie! Some of the characters in the movie I recall from my days in Boot Camp. Then the day all Boots look forward to, yes getting orders to the fleet. A good ship reflects the great men and women that serve on her.So enjoy the movie. Have a great Navy Day!

Johnny Jersey comes from a tough neighborhood where defying authority is his only rule. As he goes through recruit training, he just doesn't get on board. A man with a big chip on his shoulders and how he deals with authority. A real great navy classic you cannot miss. Very entertaining and funny at times. This DVD starring Robert Lowery, Robert Armstrong, Jean Parker, Bill Henry and Roscoe Karns. Directed by William Berke is a 1944 B&W film lasting 75 min.

4.0 out of 5 stars WWII PATRIOTISM!!!!!, May 31, 2010
By
This review is from: The Navy Way (DVD)
The Navy Way is a good WWII patriotic film, although the picture quality is not that great. Originally released by Paramount, this is a re-issue by Metropolis Pictures. All references to Paramount have been removed from the opening titles and the end title has been replaced. The film itself is typical Alpha, which is at times too dark/too light, with a couple of minor splices. The film is complete. No Alpha logo.
