Navy Woman,
By A Customer
This review is from: Navy Woman (The Navy Series #4) (Silhouette Special Edition, No 683) (Paperback)
Royce Nyland is a single father who only shows his soft side to his daughter. At work he is just the icy Commander to his staff. That is until Catherine Fredrickson breaks through his icy wall. She becomes very important to him but they have a lot of problems to work out. Most imporatantly the fact that he wants her to quit the Navy and she refuses. Somehow, they will muddle through. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy romance novels.

Great (& quick) read,

I read all of the books in Macomber's "Navy" series and this was my favorite. I liked mostly the fact that for once both of the main characters were in the Navy, not just the male lead. Catherine is a great character, she is successful in the Navy JAGC and even though she hates Royce at first, she falls in love with him and his daughter. This book you will not want to put down, right to the happy ending.

Heartwarming and satisfying!,

Debbie Macomber has a wonderful style of writing that draws the reader right into the setting, so that it feels like the characters are friends and colleagues and we are living and working alongside of. What I appreciated most about this book was that it was so romantic. The two protagonsits were forbidden to be involved with each other because of the Navy's rules against officers fraternizing with their subordinates. Catherine and Royce couldn't express their growing feelings outwardly, so they communicated wordlessly through their eyes and gestures. It was slowly tantillizing, transcending the physical, and was far deeper than merely sexual. Wow! I also appreciated how the welfare of 10 year old Kelly, and both Royce's and Catherine's relationship with her, were a priority over the romance.

Cute Fun Read,
This review is from: Navy Woman (The Navy Series #4) (Silhouette Special Edition, No 683) (Mass Market Paperback)
Told in typical Debbie Macomber style, this is a fun read involving a romance between a naval executive officer, Royce, and his subordinate, the cute, smart, feisty Catherine. Tripping and stumbling on their way to love, their escapades make them totally irresistable. You'll find yourself unable to put this one down until you find out their fate. This is a great book for the plane or beach. You'll find it totally engrossing and just plain fun.

I really enjoyed this book. This is one of the first Debbie Macomber books that I read, the first that wasn't a Christmas story. I was thoroughly impressed. It was not as "graphic" as I expected as some other romance novels tend to be, but I wasn't disappointed. I like the fact that a romance novel can have a plot without excessive sex.

This wa the first book I have read by Debbie MaComber and I found it great! Although it was not the typical steamy romance it had a great storyline with superb characters!! I would give it a try. This book is also a quick beach read, I read it in less then a day!

Just so-so!,

Navy Woman was just so-so. I just wanted them to get together already. They kept going back and forth, back and forth about why they couldn't be together. First it was him, then her, then him, then her. The romance was slow building up too. 3 stars!

I've read many of Ms. Macomber's books. This is not my favorite, but, I did really enjoy it. I especially liked Kelly, the daughter of Royce - I found her to be spunky and typical of a child looking for a mother.
This is one of those books you can get into in a hurry and stay with until the end. I always enjoy reading about the Navy since my own father was an officer and gentleman himself. Thank you, Ms. Macomber for not disappointing this former Navy Brat! Sally N. Crowe: Author, The Spirit Beside Me

Jag lawyer Catherine Fredrickson has found herself at a new posting and with a new XO Royce Nyland. After a while, Catherine finds herself attractice to her boss, but navy regs will make that will never happen.
This is the second book in the navy series that I have tried to read, but once again I could not get though the book. I know that other reviewers love this series, but I just can't get into these books. |
