Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Gr 6 Up--Rice follows up on his outstanding The Nuremberg War Trials (Lucent, 1997) with a complementary tour de force. His thorough research and scholarship stand out in his highly readable, interest-holding exposition. Coverage is not limited to the war trials but is presented in the form of profiles of Nazism's most brutal villains. While the names Heinrich Himmler, Adolf Eichmann, and Josef Mengele may be familiar to a number of young readers, Julius Streicher, Reinhard Heydrich, and Rudolf Hoss most likely will not be. The book is enhanced by informative sidebars, a cogent use of appropriate quotations, excellent black-and-white historic photographs, and an extensive bibliography.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, May 26, 2005
This review is from: Nazi War Criminals (Holocaust Library) (Library Binding)
This book is part of the Holocaust Library series of books. This particular book begins with a chronology of Holocaust events, has an introduction into the Holocaust and the Nuremburg Trials, and then launches into the meat of the book, the stories of six major players in the Holocaust. These six are Heinrich Himmler, Julius Streicher, Reinhard Heydrich, Adolf Eichmann, Rudolf Hoss, and Josef Mengele.

My daughter was recently doing a school report on the Nuremburg Trials, and picked up this book as one of her resources. This book is excellent, containing a great deal of information on the men involved and their crimes. If you want to understand just what happened during the Holocaust, then this is an excellent book to start with. A word of warning, though, this book looks frankly at the Holocaust, and what was done is enough to give anyone nightmares!
