This review is from: Nazis and Good Neighbors: The United States Campaign against the Germans of Latin America in World War II (Hardcover)
Nazis and Good Neighbors is a meticulously researched account of U.S. involvement in Latin America during World War II. It lucidly explains the motivation of the United States in arranging and financing the imprisonment and deportation of thousands of Axis citizens who were legal residents in Central and South America. Max Paul Friedman combines historical facts with an engaging style. The result is riveting reading. The impact this secret program had on Latin American governments and the people involved is clear. The parallel to U.S. policies toward "enemy aliens"today, is unmistakable.
