For it's low price, this car window bracket worked well until it broke on my vacation.

It took some imagination to figure out what had happened to it to make it no longer grip the window?

As it turned out, a small E-clip, which is available at most hardware stores, had come off of the window tightening screw.

To put a new one on, both pieces of the rubber padding that grips the window had to be carefully removed so that the moving flat plate could be slid out of the way and the E-clip snapped around the tightening screw inside of the window jaws. Then the plate could be slid back in (just!) and the pads could be reattached using some glue ... don't over do the glue because this repair will most likely need to be done more than once!

To avoid this, don't over tighten the clamp on the window. It grips well because of the diamond patterned rubber on each side of the glass.

I used this device along with a special tripod bracket for my iPhone and made some stunning videos driving through Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado and later, through Arches National Park in Utah.

I've owned a far more expensive window bracket that worked the same way.

Replacement E-clips cost me $.14 each at Ace so, it isn't an expensive repair.

So, I'm giving it 4 stars based on it's value as well as it's function.

I had another years ago that was borrowed and not returned. I hadn't replaced it because I never saw them under $30. This unit design is solidly built and clamps very tight. The price was so good and to get free shipping I ordered 2 others for both of my sons.Amazon was quick with the delivery, too.I got it in time to watch the migrating waterfowl.What a great price.
