After seeing the positive reviews about this laser I decided to purchase. I was a bit reserved because I have been burned too many times by inexpensive products. I wasn't about to spend $250 plus on a higher name brand, as my duty weapon already has a Lasermax internal laser. I wanted this laser sight for my home defense weapons.

Product quality is good as far as I can tell so far. Very easy to use, zero in, and replace battery. I haven't shot with it yet, and will update review when I do. Laser attaches to rails very easy and nice. The spring holding the quick release is VERY strong, but there is a little play when it's mounted.

This laser is visible as far as the eye can see during dark hours. During the daylight it is visible to any distance I would be shooting at without a scope of some kind. The instructions say optimum operating temperatures are between 59-95 degrees F. I live and work in Wisconsin, and ours temps go way below that in the winter. I decided to temperature test the unit myself. I put the unit in zero degrees (my freezer,) for about 90 minutes. I turned the unit on in my freezer and let it run for five minutes. It worked fine. I took it out and let it run another twenty minutes. It worked fine. I came back and turned it on a hour later and wouldn't you know it worked fine.

It's great product for the price. I showed the Chief of Police (my boss) and he was as impressed as could be. After we test mine out for shock and recoil effect we will likely be ordering some for our AR-15's. That is of course if it holds zero after being fired.

I put this on my Glock 17, It fit like a glove. I would recommend this laser for full size pistols, on compact handguns it is to bulky. SUPER bright, it really made my jaw drop, if you are thinking about getting one, GET IT!!

I use this laser on my Springfield XDM 9mm 5.25 Comp pistol, though it should fit any Picatinny rail.

THE GOOD:
1. Very bright green laser; much brighter than my Crimson Trace Laserguard on my Springfield XDM 9mm 3.8 Compact.
2. Sharp, small laser dot.
3. Fits snugly onto a Springfield's Picatinny rail. (I used a small, flat file to round the inside edge of the rail mount at the back end of the laser. This helps the laser to slide on and off the rail easier. My laser fits snugly onto the rail, but if it was loose you could tighten the fit by squeezing the sides of the mount closer together in a vise.)
4. Fast and easy to install and remove, with a spring-loaded catch that locks into the front cross-groove on the rail.
5. Aluminum housing, and brass laser tube.
6. Rail mount is integral with the housing.
7. Inexpensive. (Less than 1/3 the cost of a Crimson Trace LaserGuard)

THE MIXED:
1. Unlike a Crimson Trace LaserGuard, which turns on whenever you grip the gun, you turn the NC Star laser on by pushing a paddle switch, located on the rear of the laser housing. Push it to the left for on, and to the right for off, with snap indents that lock the switch in position. I personally like this feature, as I mostly shoot this pistol at an indoor gun range, and I sometimes like to shoot shots with the laser turned off, without having to remove the laser. There is no way to stop a LaserGuard from turning on when you grip the pistol; moreover, the housing screws together over the trigger guard, therefore the LaserGuard is not designed to be repeatedly removed and installed.

Fits snuggly on my Springfield XDM 9 mm full size and works like a charm. It's a little loose on my Beretta PX4 Storm .40 S&W full size. It protrudes about 3/4" from the end of my XDM. A very bright laser, easily adjustable, and a great value.

I recently ordered this laser for my handgun. I highly preferred a green laser, due to the tremendous increase of visibility and accuracy. Most of them where very expensive and I was ready to settle for a classic red laser. I came to Amazon and found this laser that was affordable and everything I was seeking for, without the high price. I was worried it might be to bulky, but I ordered it anyway. When I mounted it I noticed it looked excellent and mounted with extreme ease. It also locked in place extremely firmly and wouldn't budge. Finally when I turn it on, it was perfect. I shined insanely bright and unbelievably far. It also has the full beam of laser. It has capabilities of soaring well over a mile. It was simple to zero in with no problems. Ncstar is a brilliant product and would not dare go near another brand with a ten foot pole. Excellent! Recommend it to everyone looking for an affordable green laser.

I bought this NcSTAR laser from another source, and it is a good bright laser.

However, these push/push switches are not holster friendly.

If you can find a holster that fits, and there are a few out there, slipping your pistol in the holster pushes the button and turns on the laser.

There seems to be no way around this problem and many of the pistol lasers on the market have this same type of push/push side switch.

What are they thinking? NOT!

I use a small O-ring over the switch arm that keeps it from pushing when inserted in a holster. Not a very good "bandaid" but it works.
