No, it's a laser bore sight!
Steve
When rotating the laser in the camber the dot changed position on the target indicating the laser was not in the center of the device.

This helped me get the scope sighted in without wasting tons of ammo and blowing out my shoulder!

It will improve your Mah Jong game? Tastes great in milk? No, it's a laser bore sight! :P Features-wise, it's no-frills. The back unscrews, you install three watch-size LR44, then screw the back on again...laser starts las-ing. No switch, no gold filigree, just an aluminum-colored, 12 gauge, 2½" shell with a laser inside...that points straight and true down the center of your barrel (I reloaded it several times, twisting it slightly in the barrel, just to make sure that it wasn't "off"). It helped me sight in my shotgun, and then extracted from the action smoothly when I was done.

It is what it needs to be, and nothing else. Stores away compactly until you need it again (though it didn't include a drawstring case, or velvet-lined mahogany box, but I won't begrudge it any points for that).

This shell bore sight works great. Comes with batteries and is easy to see in daylight. Quick toss into the chamber and dialed the sights in and now the firearm is almost surgical. With the foam surround the sighter comes with it fits snuggly into any tackle box cleaning kit with the batteries out and sperated so to not drain them.

This is a very simple product. No "on-off" switch, just the screw on battery cover. Tighten it down to turn in on, and then insert it into the chamber of your firearm. Do not close the action. The beam is fine for indoor use, but you may want to wait until dusk to use it outdoors for further distances. It is not bright enough to see in daylight over distance. If you aim it at a white background or target, that helps too. Staple a sheet of paper to your shed or tree and that works fine. Another reviewer complained that after rotating the laser cartridge in the chamber, it changed the alignment of the sights. Well, that can happen, sometimes. I took my time and checked and double checked the point of aim by rotating the cartridge repeatedly, and more often than not, it maintained an accurate alignment with the sights. I can guarantee you that it will get you WAY closer WAY faster than not using the bore sighter. My red dot open reflex sights were way off when I first inserted the pointer in the chamber, but after a few minutes I was able to get it dialed in perfectly at about 30 yards in the back yard. Just what I need for my close quarters combat home defense pump action 12 guage! I am VERY happy I spend the 20 bucks on this. It paid for itself when you consider the money I would have spent on range time, gas, targets and ammo to accomplish the same thing the old fashioned way.

Works great at sighting in my red dot. I have used this on 3 separate shotguns and all 3 shot slugs dead on at 20 yards on the first shot. Can't ask for more.

Sounds like there's some quality variance in the manufacturing of this product. I purchased and returned a $50 rifle boresighter (with shotgun adapter) because when I rotated it, the laser moved off-center. There was no way to tell where true center was. I bought this 'sighter because of the attractive price and positive reviews. The one I received is slightly off-center when rotated, just like the previous model, but at this price I am less offended. Though the product is imperfect, it is effective enough; I sighted in my 1X red dot scope last Tuesday, and took a tom down Wednesday morning.

I used this bore sighter this past weekend, sighting in our shotguns for this coming deer season. I have to say, I have used several other bore sighters in my time. This one takes the cake! For the price and accuracy, you cannot beat it! While reading some of the negative reviews, I was a little worried about making this purchase. I am glad I went ahead and purchased this bore sighter anyway.

We sighted in four 12 gauge shotguns. 1 Remington and 3 Winchesters. At first, this bore sight slid into the Remington shotgun with ease, while the winchesters had a little bit of a tight squeeze. I found if you remove the "warning sticker" off the actual cartridge (Bore Sighter), it fits into the Winchesters with no problem.

While using this sight, it is best to use it in low light visibility, if possible. While we used it during the day, we pointed the laser at a tree in the shadows. This allowed us to see the laser dot on the tree. If you use it in bright conditions, you will have a hard time seeing the laser. Anyways, we sighted are guns in at 75 yards each. Using Hornady brand shotgun slugs, all of our shotguns hit the bullseye or was within a 1/4 inch. This little boresighter saved us tons of money on slugs and is definitley worth the price, hands down! Thanks for such a great product at a low affordable cost!

This is so much more accurate than the old style lasers that plugged into the end of the barrel. Highly recommend this.

this is the best thing since sliced bread if you put a scope on your shotgun to deer or turkey hunt. I have a regular bore sighter that fits a shotgun but with the addition of the height of the scope and the mount you can't use them and unless you have a bolt shotgun you can't look down the barrel to get it close. This thing is remarkable-just slide it in the chamber and put it in the vice and the laser beam will show up clearly at 25 yards in bright sunlight on a white surface or probably any other surface you may be using. took 3 shots to get it dialed in dead center and ready to go hunting. extracted with no problems by hand-do not close the bolt on it. quality workmanship and material. fit precisely and for the price was far beyond my expectations. at the price of shells now and the pounding you take off the bench when sighting in a magnum shotgun you don't want to be without this item in your gear box. paid for itself with the first shotgun to be sighted in.
