Built using the Ultimate Sighting System (USS), the Mark III Tactical P4 3-9x42 scope combines the benefits of a Mark III tactical scope with the advantage of a backup red dot sight. The system is equipped with a Mark III tactical scope and a specially designed MRD34 ring. The ring, which mounts directly to the ocular lens housing with a built-in Weaver-style platform, stabilizes the DDAB red dot sight so you can lock confidently lock on your target. With the scope and sight, the USS is perfect for both close quarter battle and long-range shooting.

The scope also includes fully multicoated lenses for brightness and clarity, along with a red/green illuminated P4 sniper reticle with multiple brightness settings. Other features include open target turrets, a bullet drop compensator calibrated for the .223 cartridge with a 55-grain bullet, a rotating mount for users who prefer offset functionality, a built-in sunshade, and a quick-focus eyepiece.

I have to admit I was more than a bit skeptical about the NcStar ultimate sighting system. Espcailly after reading some other on line reviews. Reviews of the product tend to be polar opposites. Either folks like it or hate it...not much in between. So, before ordering I called NcStar directly to see how difficult it is to get a person on the phone...I'm happy to report that my call was promptly answered by a human and I was connected to a Tech Support Rep who was extremely knowledgeable and assured me that if anything wasn't up to my standards they would repair, replace or refund my money, no questions asked. So I purchased the system knowing full well that it's NOT an ACOG. But at 1/10th the price I think it's a pretty good optics package. First and foremost - the scope works as advertised. The Mark III optics quality is really quite good. The mil dot recital is sharp and crisp. Overall the Mark III is easily on par with some much more expensive scopes. My favorite feature is the quick release system. It works really well (once properly adjusted - more on that later). After mounting on my flat top Stag Model 8, I sighted the scope at 100 yards. After getting a good zero, I was shooting one and ¾ inch groups. I dismounted the scope repositioned and it held its' zero just fine. My only "very small" complaint is, to adjust elevation; you have to unscrew the cap to access the internal adjustment, since turning the knob only actuates the bullet drop compensator. Not a big deal. Now it's zeroed, I don't expect I'll take the cap off again. The internal illumination also works as advertised. It's nice but really unnecessary. The scope pulls in plenty of light without turning on the illumination. I don't see using the feature much if any. Eye relief is advertised to be 3 inches.Read more ›

First I wanted to state that I am experienced in almost 10 years of military service serving in four countries and eight years of federal law enforcement. I have used an assortment of from top models as Aimpoint, ACOG, etc. I am an owner of two ACOGs. Yet now I have switched both my primary M-4/AR-15s over to the NcStar Mark III. The NcStar exceeded expectations greatly especially when compared to its price of $139.70 on sale.

Pros- The site has two primary pieces, the scope itself and a small site window mounted on top for close range such as room clearing which is where the typical ACOG falls short even at $800 to $1500. The Ncstar lower scope was easy to zero utilizing the windage and the elevation adjust that is located under the cap. Once adjusted the exterior knobs are quick to use and lock in when you hit the desired settings based on target distance. There is a knob in the rear permitting quick zoom. On the left side another knob adjusts the color of the crosshairs to include red, green, and black. The close range upper sight window is also fairy easy to adjust. There is also a nice feature of a quick release for mounting on the rails. Should you have backup iron sites and need to ditch the scope, it is really quick and easy.

Cons- I am not a big fan of batteries such as is needed for the upper sight. But when compared to running out of ammo, I guess it is not much different. Just carry more batteries.Additionally the scope does feel like an item made at $200 except for the adjustment knobs do feel of quality. I did need to tighten some of the screws and move the upper sight a little.

I do recommend this scope and now own two. Please like this post if it helped out.

I'm not much for writing reviews, but after reading so many mixed reviews on NcStar products, I felt the need to share my views. The MK III P4 Scope and Red Dot package is the first scope I have purchased from NcStar. Having already purchased some flashlights and other products from NcStar and being very satisfied, I decided to give it a shot. I've been shopping with Amazon for years, and had full faith that if this product did not satisfy me, they would work to make it right. Luckily, I didn't have to rely on that, as this product is exactly what I was hoping for. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. I'm sick of reading bad reviews for products that have no consideration for cost. I rate products based on the quality of the item vs. the price. Keep in mind that this is NOT a $1000 ACOG, and the consumer would be foolish to expect that. For the price, this piece can not be beat.
The scope arrived a day early, in perfect packaging. It came with 2 spare batteries and an allen key for adjusting. The scope comes with strapped lens covers, and the red dot sight has a plastic cap which covers the entire assembly. The scope has some weight to it, much more solid than I had expected. It is all metal construction, and the quick release mount appears to be machined very tightly, which had led to a solid, secure fit on the rail. I had read some other reviews about the reticles being off-axis. This is not the case with my scope. The crosshairs are aligned perfectly. The switch for the illuminated reticle clicks positively and has a good solid feel to it. Both the red and green lights work properly on all three brightness settings. Optics appear to be of good quality at any range. The focus adjustment is smooth and tight, and the clarity of the image is better than I expected.
