Great car window camera mount!,

This review is from: NcStar Window Mounting Tripod For Cameras And Spotting Scopes (Personal Computers)
I bought this exact model and another style to help me use my camera in my car. I'm a Realtor and photograph foreclosure houses for banks, but I have to do it inconspicuously. I found that if I pre-mount the camera on my window a block away and preset the focus, all I have to do when I get to the subject is pull to the curb (or just slow down), do minor adjustment and click the shutter. Instead of stopping, picking up my camera, focusing, taking the picture and possibly drawing more attention because of the extra time it would require to do it all in front of the subject house. The other style I tried was a ball socket head on a different mount, which wasn't as easy to adjust as this one with the arm that pivots in every direction. I plan to use this on a driving vacation eventually, as long as weather permits. I paid $10 for mine of this model; now that it's on sale for $7 I plan to buy a few more to give as Christmas gifts. Words of caution: be sure to remove the mount and your camera before opening your car window all the way, or the mount and your camera will be wiped right off the window. Same warning before closing the window or you might crush your camera. This has to be nearly as good as the mounts that cost several times more, as long as you're only using it for a point-and-shoot type or light-weight camera or small scope/binoculars. I almost paid $15-20 at my local sporting goods store for the same basic mount before I found this seller. I recommend this specific item.
Amendment: A different seller is offering this now, but it appears to be the same product.

Broke a second one...,

Clamping it on a window solidly will break it.. so isn't that what is is designed for? The first one broke and I attributed it to my overzealous desire to clamp it on tight and have a solid mount for my spotting scope. The second one broke when I put it gingerly on the window for the first time... revealing the fact that cast aluminum is junk! (unless used for something which requires no strength, like a carburetor). Spend a bit more, get a good one. I kept the basic frame and welded two nuts inside a piece of channel. Steel works wonders, though not nearly as light. The window will break before this one does!
