truely a near death experience,
This review is from: Near Death Experience (Audio CD)
This album was compiled of music tracks of out takes from the alpha omega sessions it was only released do to contract obligations.John Joseph went into studio and wrote & recorded lyrics on this album just to get out of a contract with centry media so he could release his other dump of an album with both worlds! He dosent even like it and harley denies the fact that they are his music tracks. So as for the album its not true cro-mags and neither is the crap of an album revenge so if your looking for the next AGE or BEST WISHES your in the wrong place.J.J. seemed to not put any thought into his lyrics on this album and harleys music is not hardcore its just crappy metal/power ballads!Theres even a song about Pro life "death in the womb".dont get me wrong i have no stance on any of it just rubs me the wrong way shoving it down the listeners throat. the only way i will buy this album is for one to add it to the rest of the collection or if i can get it as cheap as i got revenge and that was 0.99. hope this review is helpful to at least one of you.

this cd is a flat liner to be,the only good song are war on the streets and a remix of the other side of maddnes. a single of these song would have been satifactory.the cro-mags were not even able to record together and mix it at this time they really were tearing themselves apart and cancelling shows long before these cd due to band turmoil and in fighting.I wouldn't waste my money but if you own it who will buy it?sad

I actually only have this album along with the live album. Trying to find Cro-mags albums is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Hopefully I will be able to find some soon... Anyway what about this album? In comparison to their other albums (and yes that includes Alpha Omega!), this is a bit of a letdown. The first track 'Say good-bye to mother earth' starts the album off well and is of the usual high quality we've come to expect from the 'Mags. The rest of the album is OK, nothing particulary special, but still fairly listenable. It is also alot more metal than previously, and is a far cry from the 'Age of Quarrell' or even 'Best Wishes' days of yore. It is slower and has a few more ballads on it. This is both good and bad. Good because they are fairly well constructred, but bad because the album is never able to gain any sort of momentum as a result of this more 'slowed down' approach. This is not what bothers me though, what really ruins it for me is track three, 'War on the Streets'. Reading that title you would guess you would be in for a slab of brutal all out hardcore, however you would be sadly mistaken. On listening to this track, I could not believe what was coming out of my speakers! What I was confronted with was probably the cheesiest and stupidest song that these guys have ever recorded. On listening to it, I thought I might have picked up an Aerosmith or Guns and Roses cd by accident! (ugh). I tried to skip on to the next track to try and ignore the horror of what I'd just heard, but the damage was done, and as a result the rest of the album was ruined for me. I hope no-one has to suffer what I had to endure! and also was the original version of Other side of madness so good that we had to have it covered again here? Overall this was a fairly average album, with a couple of good songs. I would have rated it higher but for THAT one song. If your wanting to get into this classic HC band get their other albums first and maybe pick this up if it's going cheap like I did.

As a true Cro-Mags fan I had to purchase this album. But let me tell you, I know that during the time this came out the band was not talking to eachother and pretty much said it was through. What I did not realize is that whomever mixed/produced/engineered this CD must have hated them too. There is some good music but it is so badly mixed that it pretty much kills it. Even though the Cro-Mags have had their personal differences with eachother, I am glad that they put them aside to put out 'Revenge'. Also, re-releasing classic tracks on 'Before the Quarrel' which is a great CD for any Cro-Mags fan. Check out Harley's new band 'Harley's War'.
