After reading tons and tons of reviews, pitching Roomba against Neato XV series, it was a difficult call to make which one to order, with people praising Neato to be methodical and precise and some paint Roomba to wander aimlessly all over the place, so I decided to save enough and buy the two at fairly good bargains though.

Both arrived same day, all set for a very fair comparison.

After prepping the floor, by removing all loose wires and separating the dinning chairs well enough, I ran the virtual wall and the black tape that came with the Neato straight through the living room and the dinning area and put the two of them on each side of the room and let them off.

Neato did its thing by scanning the space, headed off to one extreme corner and started following the wall all right through back to where it started, then through the space covering every inch of the side of the room in very straight lines and after about 30 minutes it was done.

Honestly, watching Roomba starting off like a drunken sailor, I was wondering how it was going to get anything done effectively, criss-crossing the whole place, sometimes pausing as if it was thinking which direction to go next, only for it to go back in some directions it had covered before while vast space were not yet touched. I decided to heed an advice from a review I read ealier, that its best not to watch Roomba doing its thing. After about 45 minutes, Roomba was done.

Neither of them complained of full bin at the end of the exercise. I did not scatter some random seeds or dust to test which of the two will pick up more, all I did was remove my shoes and walked bare footed all over the tiled floor.

The verdict is Roomba squeakily cleaned its side of the room far better than what Neato did.

I researched the Neato and the Roomba for a while before deciding to give the Neato a try. It seemed to be a better fit for me. I liked the idea of it mapping the room and then systematically cleaning, unlike the Roomba which just wanders around. I have a large house (5000+ square feet) and the Roomba just wouldn't cut it by wandering around. Also, the reviews said the Neato did a better job on corners.

Well, the Neato has not disappointed. It does a great job just as advertised. I can set it and let it go. It does a room at a time, systematically cleaning and getting the corners and edges. It'll do the large living room in about twenty minutes, after which it returns to its docking bay to charge, and then it's off to the hallway or kitchen to do more cleaning. Pretty nifty, er, neato.

People complained that it was loud, but it's actually quieter than my upright vacuum, and about the same price. I bought it as a Christmas present for my wife, and she loves it. She uses it all the time. It does a great job on the hardwood and gets up all the dust. It transitions well from hardwood to the rugs, too. I have to clean out the brush about once a day. There's so much hair!! Granted, I have six daughters, and so that might be the problem. But it's easy to clean and simple to use. Excellent product. Love it.

First of all let me start by saying I read a ton of reviews and write-ups on brand after brand and finally chose this refurbished Neato. For my first robo sweeper I am glad I did. It does everything that I new one would do at a fraction of the cost. It works and runs fine mechanically. And works great on my hardwood floors and stone floors. I only have a few minor complaints such as: It is extremely loud. I am being completely honest in saying when starting it sounds like a small plane taking off and when cleaning house hubby and I have to yell over it. Problem is easily solved by setting it to run when we will be out. It has been very good at re-docking itself. I think I only helped it out twice so far. It is generally good about not running into things and if while cleaning battery get low it goes back to charger, charges up and then goes right back to where it left off. That brings me to my next dislike. I have it's charger in my kitchen and it is scheduled to clean every other day starting at 8:45 which it always is right on time. But from each cleaning cycle to the next I never know how many rooms it will choose to do. One time it only did kitchen and said it was finished. Then another time it went through the whole house after multiple recharges. Then sometimes it only recharges once and cleans two rooms then says it's finished. Not exactly sure why it does this but it's not an extreme inconvenience I just start it manually in another room. All in all it makes a big difference in my keeping up with pet hair through out the week. My wood floors are no longer dusty one day after mopping. So I am very happy and hope I will have my Robocop(My nickname for it) for a long time to come.

We have a Dog who sheds all day long and with 3 kids and my wife and I both working a 9 to 5, it became unmanageable. To be honest I got so tired of having dog hair get all over my black socks! So I did a bunch of research and for my price range and for the amount of hair my Shar Pi shed the Neato seem to fit the bill. When I received the box I was very impressed with the condition of the refurbished unit. It didn’t look new but it looked good to be a refurb. I didn’t care for the color I received which was green. I hooked the Neato up to charge and an hour into the charge it started to run by itself? So I let it run a circle and I was very impressed with the power but it seem to be obsessed with trying to get under my sofa which it didn’t fit under. It keep getting stuck trying to get under it. I tried the magnet strips but they weren’t long enough and it still keep trying to get under there. So I went and got something to lift the sofa up and that worked. It was now able to get under the Sofa without getting stuck.
The Neato worked very well at picking up my dog’s hair and navigating through the legs of my table. My wife and I were so impressed with its Navigating ability. I had to clean out the dirt tray after every circle. That’s how much stuff it was picking up! I set up a schedule to run every day at 9:30 Am and for about 3 days it worked great! We would come home to clean floors. We have hardwood and rugs and all were clean. We were even shocked that my dog was not scared of it he freaks out when we run our Dyson. I have to say we were loving this thing!
Then it started to slowly becoming I guess you would say “Dum!” It would get stuck all the time, and wouldn’t return home to charge!
