- It's much brighter than the Goal Zero
- It charges itself in the sun no need for stupid proprietary GZ cables and no need for ac charging etc...
-Better bulb housing protection with more metal rods around it just in case something hits it
-Better built quality from the touch and feel of it than the GZ.

I happen to have some battery knowledge, and can tell you that the problem with NIMH batteries is that they do NOT hold or maintain there power while in storage, except for the newer Eneloop Brand by Sanyo and recently bought by Panasonic. Those are the ONLY NIMH batteries that will maintain a charge while in storage that I know of. Therefor the WheathRite is basically worthless, unless you remember to charge it once a week, maybe it will work for a while. Not enough sun to solar charge, and crank it 15 to 20 minutes.......are you kidding, maybe when I was young. Cranking it that long might kill me.Read more ›
I have used the lamp in a authorized anchor area, where I needed light in the cockpit. I ran the light from 8PM until 7AM for two nights, the first run was charged via the power cord the second run was an all day solar recharge. Note: I hung the lamp with a piece of 3/16" line tied to the boom, resting next to the main sheet traveller, I didn't have to worry about hest from the lantern next to the lines.
The light is nice and bright, the lantern is light enough to carry easily from room to room or outdoors. I haven't yet tested it to see how long the charge will last - will let you know! Very happy with this purchase!!
At this point if you use them for camping or emergency they will give you a bright light.

Bought 2 for myself I am buying 3 more for family members.
Nice little back up lantern, but it would be nice if it had different settings. Ours arrived with something broken inside. We can hear the rattle, but can't get to it. Read morePublished 4 months ago by Amazon Customer
Amazing lantern. Very lite weight and compact and puts out good light. Set it out in the sun and it recharges. Read morePublished 6 months ago by maxx12
