This has been an invaluable tool ever since.

The DeLorme map's are so useful for taking side trips and showing closer up views of hi-ways and smaller roads.

If you need a lot of detail, you can then purchase topographic maps.

First off, let me state that this is a great atlas. It has all the roads you'd ever want to drive on, and many you don't want to. It gets four stars for that alone.

But the maps are getting out of date. It hasn't been updated in nearly a decade, and there are many roads that aren't accurate any longer. The most egregious example of the atlas being old is that it STILL lists the SAC Museum as being located in Bellevue, though it moved to Ashland years ago.

Overall, though, it's 99% great. I've used mine until it was dog-eared and tattered, and then bought another that's well on its was to getting worn out. As soon as they update the maps, I'll buy another.

When my wife and I began our project of visiting every county in Nebraska a few years ago we bought the Nebraska Atlas and Gazetteer. This has been an invaluable tool ever since. Not only does it show all the highways and county roads in detail, but it also shows many natural features, including even the smallest rivers and creeks, hills, ponds, and the like. In exploring the various counties we've been able to take various shortcuts from one place to another using the county roads, something that would have been difficult otherwise. I highly recommend this for anyone who is adventurous enough to leave the main highways and enjoy the backroads of this wonderful state.

The Delorme atlases/gazetteers are valuable references especially if you are traveling the back roads. Compared to a regular road map, there is much more detail to find your way just about anywhere in the atlas coverage area. If you need a lot of detail, you can then purchase topographic maps. Special features are also noted. Get one of these for any state where you plan to explore off the beaten trail. I already have atlases for five states, and the collection will surely grow in coming years.

We now have four Delome Atlas and Gazetteers. Love them all! The oldest one is starting to show wear at the corners, but what do you expect after five years of constant use!

The map is great! It shows all the roads and sites that I was looking for. Really helped me on the most recent trip 600 miles around NE. Great book, I would recommend it to anyone traveling the backroads of NE

The best map books are the Benchmark series, but Benchmark doesn't cover every state. I keep a library of the 16 Western states I regularly travel for my book project. Benchmark includes regional maps, a section of recreation maps, and the highly detailed roadmap section with 3D landforms. Delorme has map books for all 50 states, but limits itself to the highly detailed road map pages while averaging around ten dollars less than Benchmark. I gave Delorme 4 stars not because there's anything wrong with them, but because Benchmark is even better. If you can afford the extra cost, I would definitely recommend Benchmark ahead of Delorme.

Excellent detail-gives me all the info I wanted of the rural areas of the state. It is very useful for remote areas.
