Product Description

Humanity strikes back against the nightmarish Locust Horde with a plan to detonate a Lightmass bomb in the subterranean Horde stronghold. The bomb requires targeting data from a series of deployed resonators, and unfortunately one has gone missing. Lieutenant Minh Young Kim and his Delta Squad are sent on a recovery mission but are ambushed near the House of Sovereigns. Separated from his squad by a helicopter crash, Kim comes face-to-face with RAAM, the monstrous and brutal field commander of the Locust. Their encounter ends tragically with Lieutenant Kim impaled upon RAAM's blade.

Even for the most ardent Gears fan, it's asking a lot to purchase all NECA GoW figures, but this Raam and Kim pack is one of those worthy buys, because the characters and their story are so interesting. I'll admit that Raam was greater reason for my purchase, due to the fact that the Kim figure is just the Blair figure (which I already have) with a bald Asian head. Nonetheless, Kim is still a very welcomed addition to my Gears squad.

Just like with previous figures, Raam and Kim are solidly built with some (limited) articulation. Customers of NECA should already know that NECA sacrifices articulation for realism, not that big a problem by my books. And as with previous GoW figures, the paintjob is tip top.

Regarding weapons, this twin pack comes with the Lancer and Gnasher shotgun for Kim, and the Troika heavy machine gun and knife for Raam.

I've knocked one star off because, as mentioned, Kim is just a re-issued Blair figure with a different head. Also I don't like the neck joint on the Kim figure, it's too high up on the neck and too conspicuous, thus it looks like Kim has his neck sliced. NECA could have located this joint much lower, around the collar, to make it less conspicuous.

Pairing Kim with Raam in a twin pack obviously makes sense for those who've play Gears 1. If Raam and Kim were released separatly, I may not have purchased either one; I think NECA figured that the Kim figure by itself wouldn't have sold well.

Same deal, i got this and didnt open this up, i keep them in the wrapping, i am tempted to open them up but i dont want to mess the value. i need to see if they plan on doing the kantus.

If youre a fan of the Gears of War series, theres a decent chance you own at least a few of these action figures. WHat makes this specific one a great find is that neither one of these guys are available individually, and the Troika and Knife are only found in this 2-pack.

On the other hand, RAAM is just the same as a Theron Guard, with grey paint instead of red and a slightly different head sculpt. And Kim is the same as Baird, (NOT Blair?) and the COG Soldiers with a different head. But whatever, this is still an awesome product.

I dont open my Gears action figures when I buy them, but I have bought doubles of some just to pose them and display. Of the ones I have opened, I can tell you that they have top notch paint jobs, but some, mainly the 'Grenadier' class figures, have a right hand that loves to pull out of socket when trying to place the gun in its hand. But its easily fixable, so not that big of a deal. And as with an action figure, the more you change poses, the looser the joint will get. But out of the box, they are EXTREMELY tight. I cussed a Beast Rider for 20 minutes before i finally broke his leg loose of the factory position.

Overall, the RAAM vs Kim is BY FAR my favorite Gears of War figure made to date, with Baird running a close second. RAAM is my favorite character in the series, and seeing him gut KIM every time I look at it makes me smile. Because I hate Kim. Ive seen this 2 pack priced for $100 at more than one place, and its fairly hard to find, so $22 is a steal. While youre at it, buy 2 while you can.
