Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Chicagoan Anthony Nicholson has been producing music since 1992, first coming to fame when he met Ron Trent and started releasing records under various pseudonyms such as Urban Sound Gallery and African Blues on the hugely sought after and influential Prescription & Clairaudience labels.

Anthony's solo career really began to take off with his Dance Anthology release on Peacefrog in '98. Since then he has gone on to record under his own name for Nite Grooves and Recreation.

On Necessary Phases, Nicholson joins Detroiter (by way of Brooklyn and Baltimore) Brett Dancer’s esteemed Track Mode label, joining the likes of Windy City house music pioneer Larry Heard. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars soul,soul,soul!, September 3, 2005
This review is from: Necessary Phases (Audio CD)
It's has been a long wait since the artists last cd on Peacefrog records. The wait has been worth it and i can say emphatically that this is a wonderful album. The key for me is in the emotion and feelings evoked by the music, hints of moodyness mingle with light.Anthony if you read this,RESPECT.

5.0 out of 5 stars He's here!, August 17, 2005
This review is from: Necessary Phases (Audio CD)
I rate this a 5 because I'm both an Acid Jazz and Anthony Nicholson fan. This artist began his career as a DJ. Ron Trent gave insight on the Acid Jazz scene and soon other artists were asking for the services of Mr. Nicholson for remixes. This is officially his second full album with the last two being identical. One thing that is very noticeable is that there has been a transition to clearly declare Anthony as an Acid Jazz artist versus a house DJ. I'm very impressed with this CD. Dirty Soul is your typical Anthony Nicholson working his magic. NewJazzFunkMovement really took me by surprise because he has never displayed this side of him before. His music in the past was always hard to come by unless you had a Chicago connection. I recommend this CD to individuals who want be mellow one minute and tapping your feet the next minute. I hope there are more CDs to come for this great talent. Enjoy!
