4.0 out of 5 stars These HQ Blazes are getting hotter and hotter!, October 10, 2009
This was a cute and sexy read, with an unusual premise (Bridget, the heroine, designs lingeries and outfits for strippers, oops, exotic dancers) and very likable characters. The love scenes were scorching hot, starting with Bridget performing a sensual striptease and giving a lap dance to Adam, the hero, then moving on to a naughty love session in a public place a few days later, and then ending with a steamy encounter in her parents' barn. Wow, I'm still fanning myself over those scenes! ;)

As for the story itself, I had to suspend disbelief from the start but I was OK with it. When it comes to HQ novels, as long as I can buy the hero and the heroine falling in lust/love and the writing is enjoyable, I'm happy. Adam and Bridget get down and dirty pretty early in the book, but it was believable considering they'd known each other for 6 years and each has been secretly lusting after the other all that time. The story dragged a bit after they started dating/sleeping with each other and I wasn't sure where Adam and Bridget were heading, but it all worked out in the end. The epilogue lacked some oomph, but it wasn't disappointing enough to ruin the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bare Necessities- A Joyfully Recommended Title, October 7, 2008
This review is from: Bare Necessities (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Bridget is finally living her dream, well sort of. She is living in Chicago and taking design classes. She is even starting to design some lingerie, which is what she really wants to do. The only thing she hadn't counted on was her clientele, but she seems to have to have found a niche market. Though it is one that if her family found out about they would never believe her. Now if she could just get her brother's friend Adam to see her as a woman and not the little sister of his buddy. But, for the time being it looks like she will have to content herself with just seeing naked in her dreams.

Adam has dreamed about Bridget for years but no way is he going to pursue his buddy's little sister. But, when he sees her going into a strip club he is stunned and follows her. He doesn't even give her a chance to explain that she is there delivering costumes; he jumps to the immediate and wrong conclusion. But, she just might be able to use this misunderstanding to her advantage, and make sure Adam sees her for who she has become. The only problem is will Adam appreciate her mind and career choice as much as he values his own?

Bare Necessities is a hoot. Not only did Ms. Donovan create a fantastic storyline but she also gives a number of characters such personality I could picture myself watching some of the interactions. You will find yourself laughing at how Bridget starts to assert herself as well as how she fits in and gets what she wants. I hope to see more from Ms. Donovan in the near future as she has a fan in me. I Joyfully Recommend Bare Necessities and think that you will love this story as much as I did.

This was the first Marie Donovan book I've read but I'll definitely pick up the next one I see. It was very well-written with an interesting premise. And boy - some deliciously hot scenes in here!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very original!, January 14, 2008

The main characters were well developed and seemed down-to-earth. I thought the whole premise of the story was quite original. Bridget is a small-town farm girl in the big city to go to fashion design school, while making a bit of extra cash designing lingerie costumes for strippers. Meanwhile Adam has been secretly lusting after Bridget for years, but after she gives him a sexy lap dance, he knows he is gone. In typical Blaze fashion, there were some very steamy sex scenes. This was my first by Marie Donovan, but it won't be the last.

Funny, cute, and hot! Blaze lives up to its name. Different story line with the lingerie designing for strippers. I love hot books that make you laugh too!
