Product Description

The NeckPillow by Tempur-PedicTM is recommended for those who desire not only a better night's sleep but also need a more therapeutic sleep posture. The dual-lobe design supports the curve created by your head, neck and shoulders to properly align your spine and give you a perfect night's sleep! It is important that you choose the proper pillow thickness based on your shoulder dimensions and sleeping position preference to promote an anatomically correct posture. A pillow that forces your head too high or allows it to fall too far back not only places stress on your neck, but could inhibit breathing.

5.0 out of 5 stars TempurPedic "The Neck Pillow" BEST EVER PILLOW FOR A BAD NECK, January 11, 2010

I've used a TempurPedic "Neck Pillow" size small for several years. I have bulging discs in my cervical spine (neck) which impinge on the nerves of my shoulders, due to an accident. I see a Pain doctor and a Neurologist for this problem...I have tried, over many years, all kinds of pillows, including the ones with little beads or beans (?) in them, various types in stores or onling recommended for the neck/shoulder area...this was by far the most expensive but is definitely worth it.

NO you cannot return this pillow...or, I think, by law, any pillow you have used. That is not Amazon or TempurPedic that is a law pertaining to health/ prevention of disease. Of course at a garage sale or whatever you can find used pillows, mattresses and so on, but then its' buyer beware!

Not sure what odor the other posters refer to. All new items have some type of odor. With a pillowcase on the pillow I've never even noticed an odor. Put two pillow cases on, one zippered, if you're really bothered, and take them off to let the pillow "air out" in the daytime, thats just a suggestion, as I said I never noticed a problem.

I did have to "learn" to flip the pillow, so that if I was on my back ---as I try to be all night---my head is on the thinner part of the pillow. If I do feel I have to lie on my side --I flip the pillow so that the thick portion is under my side-lying neck/shoulder, for support. Its become an ingrained habit now, that I don't think about or even wake up consciously to do. It helps tremendously in decreasing (not entirely, but partially) neck spasms and headaches due to sleeping. I think almost anyone with a "bad neck" can relate.

Its worth a try if you're really suffering. Just be very aware of what size you're getting. I'm 5'2" and I need the small size pillow. There is a medium and large size on the TempurPedic site; I know Amazon carries the large size. The difference is in the thickness of the "thin" portion of the pillow. 3" on the small; 4" on the medium and large pillows.

Highly recommended for anyone with a painful condition of neck or shoulders, and pain during the night or when you wake up in the morning.

1.0 out of 5 stars Be Cautious, August 8, 2009

Unfortunately this pillow was a waste of money for me. I had two issues which made it unusable:

First, the smell never entirely dissipated and caused allergy problems for my husband. They claim that these are hypo-allergenic, but this was not the case for us.

Second, this actually CAUSED me to develop neck pain. I've used cheaper foam pillows in the past with no problem, but something about this one wreaked havoc on my neck. I stopped using the pillow after about a month and the pain was gone in a week!

This was an extremely disappointing experience, made even more so by Tempur-Pedic's refusal to accept returns and lack of concern with the issues caused.

5.0 out of 5 stars Herniated disc in my neck, February 7, 2010
This review is from: The Neck Pillow by Tempurpedic - Small
I love this pillow and won't even think about using a regular pillow. I had an MRI and the physician said my cervical spine looked like that of someone 20 years older. This was mainly due to a car accident I had been in as a teenager. If you've had neck problems I HIGHLY recommend this pillow. And, frankly, I'm pretty sensitive to smells and this one did not bother me at all. Frankly, even if it was covered with offensive perfume I would likely use it because it helps my health so much. Having a herniated cervical disc is definitely no fun.
