5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely LOVE it!
This pillow has made a huge difference in decreasing my pain level!

It is amazingly comfortable, like sleepling in heaven, I swear.

I had NONE of the problems the other reviewer describes... the smell went away quickly, my numerous indoor alergies had no problem with it, and it helped my pain level to go down.

HIGHLY recommended!

2.0 out of 5 stars if you have acute neck pain, this is a great pillow.... for about a month.
Pros:
The pillow itself WAS made well. The cover and the foam was made seperately in US and a European country I can't recall.
Then why only two stars? Please read on and sorry about wall of text..I have lot to get out about this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars No more PAIN IN THE NECK, March 31, 2010

This review is from: The NeckPillow by Tempur-Pedic Queen Large Tempur Pedic 24 x 12 x 4.5 (Kitchen)
I have had my pillow for 9 years now. I can't sleep without it. I used to have such bad pain in my neck and shoulders. Since I bought this pillow I haven't had the pain. It does take a little while to get used to. It has held up great. It's just now starting to get "soft" on me and I need to replace it. I don't remember the smell being an issue for a long time. Maybe it was a little smelly for the first week.

The only bad thing about it is when it's cold, it turns hard- very hard. But over time you get used to this also, and after being on it for a while it will soften from your body heat. But it is so worth the cost if you don't ache in the morning. The cost is way too high but what price can you put on no pain in the morning? I think I have gotten my money's worth. I paid $150.00 for it 9 years ago.

I will be purchasing another one soon.

I've had a Tempur-pedic bed with the matching Tempur-pedic pillows for about 5 years and have always loved it! I have been wanting one of the Tempur-pedic neck pillows and now I have one. I can't stop saying enough good things about it!! It's wonderful!

Pros:

The pillow itself WAS made well. The cover and the foam was made seperately in US and a European country I can't recall.

Then why only two stars? Please read on and sorry about wall of text..I have lot to get out about this product.

My history with this product:

I had four of these this exact Tempur pillows over ten year period through "that brick and mortal gadget store in every mall."

I thought this would be perfect for my neck pain and it was indeed the best pillow at the time. The Swed CEO seems trustworthy with his NASA pitch...

European CEO with US tech, made by both continents, how good or bad can it be...

First pillow I purchased ten years ago was great with no smell and lasted around a year before it sagged till it was unusable....When I say sagged, it means it had zero "memory" left and it would give in instantly with zero resistance upon lying on it..

Next three purchases got progressively worse as smell got stronger and more toxic and the "memory" lasted less.

The fourth and the last Tempur pillow I bought which was a year ago smelled so bad I had to air it out on open windowed parked car for three days straight!!!

It still smelled... I still used it for a month which gradually sagged to zero memory.. I finally had it and threw it out.

I'm now using buckwheat husk pillow exclusively....no I'm not a buckwheat pillow salesman....

Con:

The infamous smell issue; As far as the smell goes, there's NO EXCUSE for the pillow to smell this toxic....believe me the odor's NOT "FAINT".

If anything, Tempur should take time to air it out before the product reaches consumer. The only reason we get it this way is for the company to save a buck.

I also highly, HIGHLY doubt this "gasoline like," splitting headache inducing, man made chemical odor is non toxic as it claims.

My logical "assumption" is that the smell is due to the fire retardant that Tempur uses, which in turn, mixes with fume from the foam material still in "curing" process?

The foam itself WILL deteriorate over time into fine micro particles, and please remember that your are breathing this thing point blank for anywhere from 6 to 8 hours E.V.E.R.Y.D.A.Y....

Please Google memory foam material for possible safety or toxic issues before making your purchasing decision.

Apparently, this foam material or the pillow itself is inspired by NASA.

Then, my guess and only guess is that memory foam was a high performance gear only meant to be used for VERY SHORT duration under extreme condition and would be discarded upon end of each "days or weeks long missions."

It really wasn't meant for us "non astronauts average Joes" to use for months, let alone years!!

The longevity of the product I personally had experience, proved above point for me.

Cheers everyone, try to stay safe from greedy corporations.

I purchased this pillow to replace a medium of the same brand - hoping that the larger size would help with side sleeping. It has worked beautifully - it is firm and just the right height to provide neck support when I sleep on my back or side.

I purchased mine in 1998 after some back problems. Had a hard time getting used to it in the first week, and have used it since. I am so used to it that I even travel with it. I would highly recommend it for side or back sleepers. Never had a smell problem.

2.0 out of 5 stars Smelly pillow, December 8, 2009
This review is from: The NeckPillow by Tempur-Pedic Queen Large Tempur Pedic 24 x 12 x 4.5 (Kitchen)
I have been using the Tempurpedic pillow for 3 months now and the smell is still very strong which causes a scratching of my throat whenever I lay my head on it. I have called the company and the customer service representative could not give me a time line of when the odor is going to dissipate. She also said that I could not return and get a refund for the pillow. The only advice that she gave me was to just keep kneading the pillow. Is not it ridiculous to spend $140 on a smelly pillow that you have to knead with no option of return and refund?

I was not told when I bought the pillow (which was tightly sealed in a plastic cover) that there were any issues with the smell. It seems that the company should do a better job of either removing the smell before they sell their product or emphasizing the smell issues to the customers before they buy the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Pillow Changed My Life!, January 18, 2012
This review is from: The NeckPillow by Tempur-Pedic Queen Large Tempur Pedic 24 x 12 x 4.5 (Kitchen)
My life has been changed, I love this pillow so much because I used to have a guest room with regular pillows in it but I have purchased two of these and put The NeckPillow by Tempur-Pedic Medium 20" x 12" x 4" in the room. Now every guest tells me how great they slept which makes me so happy! I have not tried the pillow myself but I can only imagine how great it must be!

2.0 out of 5 stars The Oddest Thing...., December 22, 2011
This review is from: The NeckPillow by Tempur-Pedic Queen Large Tempur Pedic 24 x 12 x 4.5 (Kitchen)
I bought this pillow for my husband, back in the day when this was the only Tempurpedic pillow offered. It was a Christmas present. The morning after the first night, my husband said that he has nightmares all night. The same happened the next morning and the third morning. He gave me the pillow and said, "you can have it, I don't want it". So.... after telling him that he was insane, I took the pillow and slept on it and .. guess what? I, too, had nightmares that very night.

I cajoled the furniture company that I bought it from to let me return it. I have a theory that the positioning of the head, slightly tilted, affected the blood flow to the brain and exacerbated the nightmares.

I'd love to try the newer pillows in that line; the ones with the more traditional contour.
