Book Description

July 25, 2009
Ever since the visions of H.P. Lovecraft began to haunt the world, people from all walks of life have celebrated various interpretations of these musings. We are shown a world shroud in darkness that has been materialized by primordial malignant gods who fought one another for control of the Universe and for the worship of the humans who brought to them sacrifices and abominable litanies. But as many have already assumed, this Necronomicon tradition was indeed the product of Lovecraft's imagination, and it only much later became known as the Cthulhu-mythos, a haven for horror-fantasy genre authors. For nearly a century thereafer, the Necronomicon remained a fictional product of dark fantasy until the famous "Simon" folio was presented to the world in 1977. While many readers superimposed the Lovecraftian lore into their interpretation verbatim, this new document did not present rituals by which the malignant Ancient Ones would be unleashed into this world - in fact, it suggested the exact opposite: beneath the foundation of the esoteric mysteries exists a secret and sacred tradition to fight against this very act! As an unfortunate move by its contemporary readership, the "Simonomicon" came under attack as being no more authentic than Lovecraft's own stories. More serious practitioners came to a more educated conclusion: the magickal notebook (or grimoire) was incomplete at best, alluding not to the Enlilite traditions common to the "Sumerians", but rather to a Mardukite tradition that was raised by the "Babylonians" in honor of Marduk, firstborn son of Enki. Then, after the completion of the ARCANUM anthology in 2008, Joshua Free took on the role of "Nabu Maerdechai" and organized a occult research team in dedication to these mysteries called the Mardukite Chamberlains, which set out to uncover the truth behind the veils of centuries of misinformation about the backwaters of human consciousness including very specifically the role of the Anunaki or Sky Gods who appear at the heart of every ancient pantheon. The range of the Mardukite work included lengthy discourses with other related published researchers, unceasing hours in abandoned corners of old libraries and museums, participation in sessions with other practicing occults and even a visit to the "tablet collections" at the University of Pennsylvania. The culminating results were nothing like anyone would have expected: an authentic and verifiable version of the Necronomicon salvaged from the shifting desert sands of time in the Middle East and Egypt, unparalleled by anything already available to True Seekers. It appeared to be the most complete collection of ancient writings on the planet that formed the very foundation of all the human traditions and beliefs that would emerge thereafter. Given this, we concluded that being the ancient source of our modern traditions that have had the meaning washed out of them, this path was the most perfect, complete and logical example we currently have to pursue on this planet! This present edition of the Necronomicon edited by Joshua Free, is not Lovecraftian or Simonian (while it could serve to offer validity to materials from both sources for those who seek it), neither is it "dangerous" or a "hoax" (though those who fear the revelation of these truths for the world will think it the former and label it the later). This edition of the Necronomicon is the single most ancient and pure unaltered lore concerning the hottest topics of our time and all times, including divinity, creation, human origins, aliens, religion, pantheistic magickal traditions, alternate dimensions, portals and the afterlife. In this new millennium of uncertainties, it is most likely that the uncovering of the past will reveal our future.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book of reference and inspiration..., October 15, 2009

This review is from: Necronomicon (Hardcover)
With a prolific tradition of Necronomicons in existence, what need do we really have of another? To be succinct, this Necronomicon provides the reader with access to some of the oldest and most powerful traditions in our history. The "cradle of civilization" is often considered to be ancient Mesopotamia, and if the roots of civilization in general might be found there, certainly we can trace the majority of our religious and spiritual heritage to that region, particularly to Sumer and Babylon.

There is delightfully minimal commentary involved in the book. Editor Joshua Free includes a brief introduction to the book in general, and to each section of the book. These introductions are very economical, in that they are information intensive, yet say little which is unnecessary. In essence, they inform the reader of the context and nature of the texts introduced, and provide some frame of reference as to where the texts fit within the Mardukite tradition. There is also the fascinating and provocative foreword by Tracy Twyman, which nicely interlaces the Anunaki lore, the Cthulhu Mythos of Lovecraft, the theories of the Grail bloodline (made so popular by Brown's DaVinci Code, and before that, Baigent and Leigh's work), and the Kings of Atlantis. No demand is made upon the reader to beleive anything, but to think for oneself and be honest with oneself. The remaining content of the book consists of copious translations of ancient texts from principally Babylon and Egypt. These are incredibly informative, and are so organized as to highlight the harmonies between ancient traditions.

A word of warning, however, to the unwary reader: this Necronomicon is not an oven-ready book of conjurations and magick. Like the Simon Necronomicon, this one too is incomplete. However, the Mardukite Ministries (who issued this volume) prepared two companion volumes which complete the operative aspects of the book, in the form of a Priest's guide and a Wizard's Guide. Of course, the trilogy comprised thereby should be read and studied in order. It would be not only unwise, but actually unworkable, to jump straight to the book of magick which sits as the finale of the trilogy. It relies on comprehension and access to materials contained in the preceding books. For those not inclined to seek out the remaining books, which are available direct from the Mardukite Ministries, one will also find this volume to be very compatible with the Simon Necronomicon. (Note: the Priest's and Wizard's guides are planned for eventual release in a second hardback copy, similar to the Necronomicon itself, but for now are printed in house by the Ministry.)

I would have given this book 5 stars, which it easily deserves for content. However, there are many errors in editing, resulting in typos, as well as some printing errors in the Foreword by Twyman. These errors are not too troubling to overcome, but they remain an imperfection in the book's preparation, and as such I couldn't give it a perfect rating. The content, which is by far more important than the editorial and printing technicalities, deserve the full five stars. Thus, I dock it only one star for minor imperfections of form, as the essence is worth every penny you'll spend on this book.

Certainly, anyone interested in the history of the occult traditions, the Simon Necronomicon, or even the history of religion will find this book invaluable for its compilation of the authentic source material of many of our traditions. The only caveat to this is that the reader must be willing to displace dogma and read with an open mind in order to gain any real insight from this book. One does not need to agree with the interpretations offered, but they easily offer very worthwhile food for thought.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh perspective at last!!!, October 5, 2009
This review is from: Necronomicon (Hardcover)
READ THIS BOOK IF YOU WANT TO BETTER YOUR LIFE, AND THE LIVES OF THOSE YOU CARE ABOUT!!!

This book is an absolute MUST READ to anyone considering themselves a seeker of truth, but also fans of H.P. Lovecraft, and Simon!!! It is so very refreshing to see this information having been painstakingly researched from a perspective both, anthropological, and historical. The forward by the editor is absolutely amazing, as it parallels numerous pieces of information, and coalesces it all. Everything from Rosicrucians, Templars, and Masons, to the Greek and Egyptian schools of mystery. From the Bible to the New World Order. Information on Atlantis, Lemuria, and other lost civilizations of myth. From Kundalini to Cthulu, alien DNA hybrids to the alchemist Philosopher Stone.

The work is Egypto-Babylonian, delving into the traditions best documented lore from Mesopotamia of Marduk(Ra)-Son/Heir of Enki(Ptah)-Lord of the earth, the Anunaki-Sky Gods, the Igigi-Watchers, and much, much, MORE!!!

"Labels, names, and figures are man's calculations of truth. Labels create the reactive/response settings within your program, creating "files" and "copy" and "pasting" pre-existing ideas and beliefs. The Ego "downloads" additional manifestations, imageries, and artificially craeted barriers, limitations and then further isolates you to be overcome by more "worldly programming." -Necronomicon

There's a reason they call it "programming" folks!!! It is time for us to kill our televisions, snap out of it, and wake up!!!

When read with an open mind, free from the preconceived notions spawned in fear by our egos, and suspension of judgment, should you chose to cross the threshold you currently stand in front of, this book will have dramatic, life changing effects for you and all others you care about!!!

In fact, I recommend this book to anyone, and everyone struggling through life that is searching for a better way!!!

I must say at first I was a bit skeptical at the emergence of another necronomicon. I decided it would at best make a good conversation piece and bought it. Upon reading it I have to say I am impressed at the level of research Free put into this work. He even constructed (or rather REconstructed) a workable magical system around the ancient Assyrian, Babylonian, and Egyptian beliefs outlined in the text. This work is now the prize of my necronomicon collection and I feel it has earned its place well.
