Under Overkill's Wheels!,
By Patrick M. Tracy (Salt Lake City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Necroshine (Audio CD)
Disregard anyone who tries to tell you that Overkill has lost its teeth or gone soft. This disk will crush you with sheer aggression and raised-middle-finger attitude. The riffs are delivered with depleated uranium weight, and the production is clean and loud. Just to give you a little to think about, the boys have given us some pretty interesting choruses, and even a little female backing vocal here and there. Don't let this disuade you. Compared with their contemporaries, Overkill has remained far faster and harder. They don't have the hammer down every second, but when the throw you the heat, they can still shift into maximum overdrive. Get this disk. Get W.F.O. and Years of Decay, too. Heck, get them all! They'll put an end to any urge to lament over the lack of quality Thrash these days.

Still going strong after all these years.,
By Doug Slaby (Milwaukee) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Necroshine (Audio CD)
I remember when I first heard "the years of decay" I was blown away. It's rare that you find a thrash band who are also able to put some melody in their music. For a long time these guys were second only to Metallica for me but through the passing years Metallica have managed to sound like everyone else. The thing that I used to love about Metallica was that despite the fact that they had no air play, they continued to fight the mainstream and achieved fame the hard way: they worked their butts off. Now ten years later and millions of albums sold they've become the exact thing that they were railing against in the first place.Well that left me with Overkill. They've never compromised their sound for sales. They've stuck with what they're best at: teeth rattling metal. Another thing I love about these guys is that they're not lazy. From 1999 to 2000 they've put out 3 albums (Necroshine, Coverkill, and Blood letting). Necroshine is a great cd. They rock harder than ever on this thing. There's not a bad song in the whole bunch. Blitz's vocals are definately unique but on this album he knocked it up a notch. He's more nuanced than ever. The rest of the band are tighter than ever and compliment Blitz's vocals perfectly. Check out "Necroshine"....

By mike (BUFFALO N.Y.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Necroshine (Audio CD)
OVERKILL,The gods of thrashmetal have NEVER,EVER,disapointed or turned there backs on metal! This album is not a whole lot of thrash but yet rock solid, hard hitting, skull crushing, metal at its purest! Some of there best song's are MY DECEMBER,80 CYCLES, REVELATION, and my personal fav. with bobby the blitz sister (MARRY ELLSWORTH) doing backing vocals,LET US PREY. This is not there best album but still a masterpiece if you like straight up hard hitting METAL ITS A MUST HAVE!
