5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product
I never took this product until recently and I like it much more then taking multivitamins.
This is actually the only product my father has taken daily for the last, say 10 years, and I have no memory of my dad getting sick with anything, even a little cold! According to my grandma's doctor, who has been taking Amrit since she got a heart failure 6 years ago, she...

1.0 out of 5 stars Delicious, but horribly overpriced, fruit spread that purports to be a panacea
I used to work at a Maharishi Ayurveda health food store, and this, along with the Amrit Nectar tablets, was our flagship product. (The price has increased since then, which seems impossible given its then-outrageous price tag.)

So what is it? Basically it is a blend of Indian fruits and herbs, cooked down until it has the appearance of pine tar. Don't let...

This review is from: Amrit Nectar Herbal Fruit Concentrate, full-spectrum antioxidant, 20 oz./570g (Health and Beauty)

Don't let appearances deceive, though--this herbal fruit concentrate is absolutely delicious, with an even more complex, subtle flavor than standard Indian cuisine.

Unfortunately, this product is neither marketed nor priced as an exotic taste treat. Instead, the folks at MAPI (Maharishi Ayurveda Products International) want us to believe that this humble fruit spread is actually a panacea capable of healing any illness and extending one's lifespan. The rationales given for its effectiveness range from the metaphysical (i.e., it balances one's doshas) to the clinical (i.e., it is the world's most powerful antioxidant), yet the evidence to support these claims is scant and potentially tainted by biased research. That, plus the fact that a month's supply of the complete product (paste and pills) costs over $110, makes avoiding this product a no-brainer.

This is actually the only product my father has taken daily for the last, say 10 years, and I have no memory of my dad getting sick with anything, even a little cold! According to my grandma's doctor, who has been taking Amrit since she got a heart failure 6 years ago, she is doing incredibly well, she's more energetic he would have imagined her to be and her immune system is amazingly strong. We gave Amrit to my husband's grandfather when he had serious heart problems and this was the ONLY product that brought his platelet count below critical levels. I am nursing and taking the Amrit and while I am sure that many other factors are contributing, both I and my 8 month old son are very healthy and did not catch any of this winter's terrible flus that our friends and family got! For that matter my son never got sick so far, thought he interacts with lots of people since we are very social and take him out with us a lot. I read the researches on this product and I have to say I am very impressed! It also tastes good.
