Book Description

June 30, 2001
Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj (1897-1981), a revered master of the Tantric Nath lineage, is an inspiring example of an ordinary family man who attained complete realization of the Infinite. Living the absolute nonduality of Being in every moment, he taught that true freedom is a possibility open to every one of us. He drew disciples from all over the world to his humble loft in the tenements of Bombay.

Even on the written page, Nisargdatta’s words carry a special potency. They subtly push us beyond the ego to our original, pristine and blissful Self, to the rediscovery of Oneness and authentic liberation in our Source.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“Nisargadatta Maharaj is my greatest teacher. His words guide my writing, speaking, and all of my relationships. The singular pursuit of the awakened person is to find that part of himself or herself that cannot be destroyed by death. I know of no one who can aid you more on that journey than Nisargadatta Maharaj. His wisdom guided me throughout the writing of Your Sacred Self. Let him be with you, as he is always with me, via this profound book, The Nectar of Immortality.”
—Dr. Wayne Dyer, author of Your Erroneous Zones and Your Sacred Self

More About the Author

A simple man, Nisargadatta Maharaj, was a householder and petty shopkeeper in Bombay where he lived, and died in 1981 at the age of 84. He had not been educated formally, but came to be respected and loved for his insights into the crux of human pain and the extraordinary usidity of his direct discourse. Hundreds of diverse seekers traveled the globe and sought him out in his unpretentious home to hear him. To all of them he gave hope that "beyond the real experience is not the mind, but the self, the light in which everything appears...the awareness in which everything happens."

5.0 out of 5 stars profound!, May 10, 2003

This review is from: The Nectar of Immortality: Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj Discourses on the Eternal (Paperback)
As usual Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj's words are powerful and profound. This book is a great compliment to I AM THAT.
What we have here is Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj giving very direct discources on apperceiving yourself as the Unborn. In this series of Q & A's Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj continually dismantles the concepts of the seekers and brings us back over and over to pointing us to our True Nature.
The talks are very focused and direct. Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj's methodical approach is designed to help you question and discard all the false ideas you have carried around about your mistaken identity and instead seeing your Self beyond body/mind identification. The talks are made to make you question, inquire and go a step beyond even spritual practices. This is a great book for those that are interested in cracking the shell of the false and peering into the Infinite and going past being a "seeker" learning yet more spiritual practices etc., etc., etc. These teachings are very direct pointers into Self-Knowledge of the Absolute reality and understanding what you really are and what was the state you were in prior to consciousness.
These are amongst some of the most concise and direct teachings I've come across in print.
"There is no birth, there is no death, there is no person, it is all just a concept, an illusion!"
Nisargadatta Maharaj

This is good supplemental reading to the main core of Maharaj's way of illumination, which is very well presented in "I Am That". There are several instances where the core is expanded on in new ways that further the understanding of the material.
