5.0 out of 5 stars Clean translation by Robert Powell, December 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Nectar of the Lord's Feet: Final Teachings of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj : Discourses January-November 1980 (Paperback)
Its always good to read Nisargadatta and Powell has kept to a word for word translation, (given the limitations of the English language) to describe what Nisargadatta has said. Robert's own book "The Real Is Unknowable - The Knowable Is Unreal" contains many intellectual/philosphical quotes that give some idea of Powell's understanding of Advaita philosophy but here he leaves all traces of an editor out and delivers pure Nisargadatta.

The chapter from which the book gets its title is sublime. As always with Nisargadatta there are issues around word meanings that can change with contexts, and some of these contexts are unclear, but the basic message gets through to the consiousness and the power of his works are very special. Some chapters were hard to read as he devours questioners without mercy and others were simply sublime.

What did I want to know before purchasing this book (Amazon review suggestion) - well how to know nothing and if you know what this means this book helps to deliver sublime states of consciousness.

5.0 out of 5 stars What this book actually is, February 15, 2011
This review is from: The Nectar of the Lord's Feet: Final Teachings of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj : Discourses January-November 1980 (Paperback)
A reviewer suggests a question as a guideline for writing here: "What did I want to know before purchasing this book?" Well, I wanted to know what the book was, as there is so little information about it. Eventually I found out. It is the UK first edition of a book retitled for the US edition as "The Nectar of Immortality". Obviously, this will decide it for you, since you will have either already read that excellent book, or will want to obtain the latter, as it is much cheaper.
