5.0 out of 5 stars Ned For President!!, January 20, 2011
This review is from: Ned's New Home (Hardcover)
I borrowed Ned's New Home from our local public library for my almost 4 year old daughter. From the stack of books that we read every night, she always chooses to read Ned first. The other day when we were driving down the road, she was talking about Ned.
This is a simple, but great, book to explore fruits and colors with your child. Perfect for toddlers or preschoolers. Thanks for writing an excellent book for kids, Kevin!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an adorable little book that your preschooler will ask you to read time and time again!, January 2, 2010
This review is from: Ned's New Home (Hardcover)
You could see right past the yellow shutters into Ned's home. Ned, a beautiful green worm, had just baked an apple pie that had steam rising from the top. An apple home was just perfect for someone like him and to round off the coziness of the place he even had red curtains in the window and a nice potted plant in the yard. It was a wonderful home until "the apple started to rot." Ned looked a little anxious and even had to get out an umbrella when "the walls turned to mush, and apple juice rained every day." It was time to find a new home when the tub began to float.

Suitcase in hand, Ned began his search. A pear looked just fine, but it kept wobbling and throwing him out. "Humph!" The watermelon was a bit too BIG and those blueberries just rolled all over the place when he tried to erect a wall. When he spotted a lemon that seemed to be just right. He even had two potted plants outside his doorway, but when his friends tasted his lemon tarts it was time for a move. He tried a kiwi, but ladybug, snail and his ant friend couldn't find him because he blended in with the walls. Ned was planning his next house in a bowl of cherries when a bird swooped down and grabbed the cherry his was sitting on. Was Ned ever going to find a home as good as his first one?

This is an adorable little book that your preschooler will ask you to read time and time again. I enjoyed Ned's little search for a home, but each time he thought he had the perfect one there was always something that didn't quite work out. It reminded me a bit of the saying, "there's no place like home." Ned wasn't going to be content until he was in a home that was just right for him. If you live in apple country this would be a nice choice for circle or story time in the homeschool or classroom setting!

We received this book as a gift and I read it to our 2 year old tonight as one of her bedtime stories. It was such a cute story!!!! The colors and the different fruits throughout are great. Our little girl loved the pictures and story -- she excitedly named all the fruit in the story and the ending made her giggle. When I finished reading the book, she looked at it and gently gave it a kiss. Truly deserving of 5 out of 5 stars and a top notch kiss rating from our 2 year old.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ned's new home is a keeper!, September 16, 2009
This review is from: Ned's New Home (Hardcover)
I purchased Ned's new home to use at the preschool I work at. This book is so sweet with wonderful pictures. It is a great simple story with a wonderful message that everyone has a place that is right for them and that what is right for one person may not be the right fit for another. I can't wait to buy a few more copies for home and school.

5.0 out of 5 stars Family Favorite, August 14, 2009
This review is from: Ned's New Home (Hardcover)
Ned's New Home has become a regular favorite in our home library. My 5 year old daughters instantly fell in love with the adorable little worm, Ned. They love predicting the next fruit that Ned might choose to make as his home and the illustrations are stunningly clever. As an educator, I find this book is perfect for the "Apple Theme" used during the Autumn months in the primary grade levels and its descriptive language is a great way to teach my students about using adjectives in their own writing.
