5.0 out of 5 stars Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit
Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit is one of my favorite racing game ever. Racing games are my thing and this is a lot of fun, even when you've won Knockout mode, Tournament mode, caught all 6 speeders on all 9 tracks, and have become "Most Wanted" (eluded the cops on all 9 tracks). 3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly good
This game is fairly fun, but with a lot of shortcomings. First off, I'd like to point out that there are two other Need for Speed games out: Porche Unleashed and High Stakes, I would ecourage you to buy them instead of Hot Pursuit. Hot Pursuit is an OK game, but the graphics stink. It's hard to tell some objects from others, and the lines that the cops say get really...

5.0 out of 5 stars Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit, March 7, 2000
This review is from: Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (CD-ROM)
Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit is one of my favorite racing game ever. Racing games are my thing and this is a lot of fun, even when you've won Knockout mode, Tournament mode, caught all 6 speeders on all 9 tracks, and have become "Most Wanted" (eluded the cops on all 9 tracks). In Tournament mode, you race on all tracks and you are awarded points depending on where you finish in each race. Win the beginner Tournament, and unlock the Jaguar Sport XJR-15. Win the expert Tournament, and unlock the Mercedes CLK GTR! In Knockout mode, you run in 7 races, and in each one, the last place finisher is eliminated. So you must survive until the last race. You and the surviving computer driver duel it out in this last race for the championship. In Single race mode, it's a single race on any track with any car. All in all, I give this game five stars. Electronic Arts has scored a definite winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best racing games ever!, July 28, 2000

The Need for Speed series racing games have always been up in the top, and Hot Pursuit just made it better. The graphics are incredible, and so is the game play. The highly detailed cars , from the Diablo SV to the Jaguar XK8, are very realistic in their speed capabilities. The sad thing about this game is you're car can get hit numerous times and still does not take any damage. This game is highly recommended.

This game is the coolest game I've ever played in my entire life. It's graphics are totally realistic, it looks as if you're in an actual car and you're at a real place. I reccommend you buy this ASAP if you want the best game you've ever played.

I have a DOLBY SURROUND system with 2 12" woofers... etc. 5 channels, Voodoo 3 Glide video, fully proportional steering wheel, and a 56" HD screen. To put it bluntly, my system is better than an arcade! This game is undescribable! Its surreal! I feel like I'm actually in the seat! Computers are so much better than EVERY playstation [etc.], arcades, graphics... This game stands out from the rest. I've been gaming for YEARS, and have a valid opinion. Head to head play will make you lose sleep for days! Get that fried of yours that thinks they can beat you in everything and have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars At This Price There Is Nothing To Complain About, June 25, 2000
This review is from: Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (CD-ROM)
Hot Pursuit is as good as it gets when it comes to buying older(2 year old) games at a bargain price. The graphics are great(even today) running at break neck speeds on today's PCs and better than acceptable on PCs of the past. The music fits the driving perfectly. I would have liked the engine sounds to have more bass to them but complaining about that is getting a bit on the picky side. This is the game to play if you have the popular pipe dream of ever driving one of the sweeting looking, fast moving, and extremely expensive cars portrayed in this game. The cars range from the popular Corvette to an exotic limited edition Jaguar.(The fastest car in the game) There is a feature that actually allows you to view the real interior of each of the cars through an adjustable camera lens.(Still Shot Photos) A showcase scenario will give you a detailed analysis(Including pricing during that year) of each vehicle complete with an audio narration giving the descriptions. The controls do take a little bit of time to get used to and you will find that it seems the computer drivers would like to see you splattered off the side of a cliff or the pavement.(The artificial intellegence is vindictive. I love it! ) This game doesn't have all that many tracks but it doesn't get boring. There is always the challenge to break the track record, the thrill of whipping past your opponents, and the challenge of tackling night and rain as obstacles to add to the difficulty.(The game is difficult but not impossible) With a seemingly unlimited amount of things to challenge yourself with(and tweak) in this game it never gets tiring. Buy it! It's cheap and it's pretty damn good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Need for Speed 3.... The Sweetest Supercars!, April 10, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (CD-ROM)
need for speed 3 is the best racing game. There are 8 tracks and u have the ability to make them go backwards, have rain or snow, and thunderstorms. The best cars are (my opinion) Lamborghini Countach and Diablo SV, Jaguar XJR-15, El Nino,Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR. This game has great graphics and fun gameplay, especially on Pursuit mode. The cops chase you!!! It works best with a joystick (Microsoft Sidewinder) and you can even beep your horns at the cops. Also, you can wreck them and send the flying. BUY THIS GAME!! The graphics engine is great, and it only takes 32MB RAM!! BUY THIS

Hot Pursuit is an OK game, but the graphics stink. It's hard to tell some objects from others, and the lines that the cops say get really annoying. The control is fair; it's fine but it could be better, but the photos of the real cars and the history of the companies is facsinating, and well done. This game is an older version though, get something better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good, but could've been so much better, January 18, 2000
This review is from: Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (CD-ROM)
Need for Speed 3 is the best racing sim (other than NFS: High Stakes) that I have ever come across. The game has setup/customization options galore, and some of the best looking visual effects, graphics and sound ever seen in a car sim. While the game only came with thirteen or so cars, -and they pale in comparison to the assortment of vehicles in NFS 2- there are hundreds of cars that you can download from tens and tens of personal NFS 3 websites on the internet, although, you can only have 52 or so at one time in your NFS 3 directory.

The game only comes with nine tracks, and half of them are modifications of the first four tracks, so this is a disappointment. The physics are very good, but the driving sensation is marred compared to NFS 2. The cars feel like they're floating, rather than grasping the road, and they glide from side to side like hovercrafts, which makes steering straight and avoiding other cars more of an effort. The steering is also unresponsive compared to NFS 2. Also, while the game does have very nice weather effects and night driving, the dashboards aren't lit up in night driving mode and the headlights aren't effective enough to drive at night. And the AI is no challenge whatsoever in single race mode.

The highlight of the game is it's Hot Pursuit mode, where you can race on either side of the law. This can provide endless hours of entertainment. All in all, while this about the best racing game I've ever owned, it could've been so much better and near perfect. But, it's still definitely worth purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best driving sim out there., December 21, 1999
This review is from: Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit (CD-ROM)
I've played them all, and NFS3 is the best racing game out there. Each car is individual in it's handling, rather than the cookie cutter style of other games. And, with the ability to download and create your own cars...the posibilities are endless. I've had the game for a year, and I have over 80 cars...I still play the game almost every day!
