Best one in the Series, November 25, 2005

This is a really great game. Though begining the game can take a while explaining the story, it's worth the wait. In Free Roam mode, you can interact with the environment like you couldn't in the other games in the Need For Speed series. You can knock over street lamps, see the damage on street cars as you crash into them, and slam into lumber trucks and watch the logs roll of into the street. You can even drive underneath the trucks. In the beginning the police purstuits are rather basic, but gradually increase in intensity, involving road blocks, spike strips, even SUVs the smash into your car and blocking your way. There is a greater variety of races now including tollbooth and speedtrap. The only real downside that I found was that the instuctions that came with the game didnt explain all too much, but luckily it shouldn't take too long to learn the ins and outs of the game. Im really pleased with the latest in the series. Have fun and don't get caught by the police ;-)

This game is amazing. The graphics are mindblowing, sound is great, and the overall game is awesome. This game is a mixture of Underground and Hot Pursuit. The cops make this game a blast, although they're a real hassle, but t's fun. You now interact more with the environment by going under trucks, breaking objects, and more. There is o much to talk about. Any gamer should get this.

A great, fun, and challenging game. But lacks character..., July 8, 2006

I've had alot of fun playing this game. In fact, I've lost sleep over it. I'll say that this was one of the best racing games to come out last year. Not as good as Forza, but then again they really arent the same "type" of race oriented gameplay. I'll start off this review with the good:
Good - The game is pretty realistic graphics wise. I dont know how exactly the graphics are on the other systems, because I havent gotten a chance to see it. They could have been a tad bit better though. The selection of cars is pretty good too. And the story is pretty good for the first time you play it. You get so eager to see what happens next that you dont want to stop.
Bad - The lack of customization was a big downer for me. THeres not nearly as many opitions visually. And performance wise you dont get to pick what brand of parts you get to put on your car like in NFSU2. Also, unlike games like LA Rush this game stays in constant day time. It doesnt transition from day to night. Just like NFSU and NFSU2 didnt ever go to daytime. That would be a nice addition to it. What also sucks is that you only get to have the BMW for a short amount of time in the story. And then, after you lose it, you dont get to buy a new BMW at all in the game!!! Whats up with that? The car lots have Porsches, Lamborghinis, and every other car under the sun, but no Bimmers???!!! The main car being advertised in this game IS a BMW. So why not make them available for purchse from the dealers in the game?
Another thing is that I think there needs to be more to this game...as in it doesnt have enough substance. It would be nice to see more lifelike things in it, such as you being able to fine tune your vehicle, see your engine and underside of the car and all the rest of the mechanics of the vehicle. I would like to see the NFS franchise make an EXTREME life-like racing game. Like if you crash, something like the steering needs to pull more to the right or left like there has been damage to the suspension. Like in Forza, but still keeping true to the street racing origins of this franchise. Because no matter what car you drive, they can all have something go wrong with them. There also needs to be engine damage as well. Like being able to overheat the car, or throwing a rod, or theres like a vlave bend or something. You know? You should also be able to perform regular matinence on your vehicles (as in oil changes, etc.). You should be able to see your character in the game working on the car and talking to the other characters and stuff. If a organization is going to make a racing game, make it more realistic with things like engine failure, car maintence and such. Thats my version of the perfect race game. Which I thought I would just throw in.
Overall this is a very fun game. Very addictive. But with more realistic things in it (like the daytime/night time change overs, more customization, etc.) this would have been alot better.
