First off I have completed 100% of both the NDS and Wii versions of this game. I still play them a lot, and I want more! Need for Speed Nitro has got to be the freshest, most original car racing game I've ever played on the Nintendo DS. GET THIS GAME AND GET IT NEW! Here is why:

GRAPHICS & PRESENTATION
The menus and screens are finely designed and easy to navigate the music can be changed while going through it all which makes things a bit more pleasant. There are 30 cars, fortunately they're all pretty awesome. Plenty different missions, all fun, good times there. The style of the cars and the graphics they're rendered in are nothing short of spectacular! The design of the cars is a very attractive, fresh and original one that goes perfectly with the fun world you'll race in. The levels are designed well, and while racing everything just looks amazing, especially for a NDS game! Car customization is okay but nothing special, good thing the cars already look awesome!! Also the screen shots for the NDS version of this game do no justice, it looks WAY better playing it first hand.

SOUND
The music tracks in the game are played with great quality! Some songs aren't too hot while others are pretty cool the tracks can also be changed while racing and having that option great. Racing and engine sounds are nice, even more so when using the nitro. Like many other elements the sounds also work great with everything else.(I sometimes turned the music off, played by the PC and blasted my own tunes which I thought was a neat idea, but the music here is still good!)

GAMEPLAY
For racing this really makes or breaks the game, fortunately it REALLY MAKES it! The controls and gameplay are very smooth, easy to pick up and very natural! Racing like a pro is accessible, in a good way and winning the harder races will require a good amount of logic and focus, and while some races might be easy the gameplay really keeps the fun alive! EA has done well tweaking the overall gameplay to perfection and I enjoyed the NFS Nitro games more than any other Need For Speed game.

CONCLUSION
For the price, wow, yes, get it! I got it new to support this awesomeness but that's just me. I am quite anxious for a sequel, it will rock. Now if you're looking for a Gran Turismo experience then.. no, but if you want a really cool, unique fresh take on racing what are you waiting for? DO IT!

With the release of the new Nintendo 3DS and the fact that the newer 3DS games are not backwards compatible good games for the older Nintendo products can be hard to find. This however, is a great game for the older systems. Our 8 year old throughly enjoys the game, though is a absolute freak about cars. It was easy for him to start playing the game and has gotten progressively tougher as he masters the various levels and turns off some of the "helps" or increases the difficulty. definitely not as educational as some games but entertaining none the less and that is the purpose here so mission accomplished!

I'm kind of up and down about how much to rate this game. On one hand the controls and speed seem to be much better then the previous NFS games on DS. They seem to have finally gotten it right this time... however, the look of the cars and graphics seem to have taken a down step from the somewhat realistic approach, to loony tune looking cars with cutesy style big wheels on them. This is not what you expect out of a NFS game. It looks like to improve there DS games, the people who bring you NFS took some ideas from Mario Kart and made these kid style cars with special maneuvers to overtake or jump cars in front of you.

It's not what I expected from a NFS game, this one seems to be aimed at kids more then the teen or adult demographic. It's made my desicion of how to rate it a little disorientating as I want to say it would probably be much better if the graphics where more like previous NFS games on DS, but then again, I never really did enjoy of the previous games anyway, and so far this has been the best one I have played so far. It just seemed a little weird you press a certain button at a certain point to go magically flying/flipping through the air to get in front of the car you are tailgating.

So i guess my conclusion comes down to, it's ok, but not the best racing game out there for the NDS. I personally think it is better then all other NFS games the DS has to offer so far, but I would still say the best racing game on DS is Sideswiped/Crash Kings. Check that game out for sure, but as for NFS, I wouldn't pay a lot for it, wait for it become cheaper or second hand... or COUGHDOWNLOADSCOUGH

This game arrived when it should of which I was glad about. I love Need for speed games! I enjoy this game alot as do my daughters.
