I love this game because you get to play with the bad guys, and then bust them! You go from being on their team undercover to coming out in the open as a cop. Complete with all the options as the other NFS games, you can pick the kind of car you want, the color you want, and can upgrade the preformance and appearance of your car. You can also CREATE your own pictures you can place onto the doors, roof, or hood of your car! Hahaha, my favorite feature. It's really cool!

Another year usually means another Need for Speed game, of which the DS isn't safe from either. Still though, the Need for Speed series has had a pretty good track record on the DS, and while Need for Speed: Undercover isn't quite as good as Prostreet and Carbon were on the DS, it still manages to deliver most of the goods. Graphically speaking, Undercover offers up some good-looking 3-D work, despite the fact that there's frequent amounts of pop-up and texture glitches that can impede the racing experience. The game does manage to control pretty good though, even if the cop AI is practically broken and some of the racing elements are pretty drab. Still, there's enough challenges and a great amount of online and offline multiplayer options to keep you busy for a while. All in all, Need for Speed: Undercover for the DS doesn't offer anything you haven't played before, but if you own a DS and racing is your thing, this game is worth a trip.

This is my first review on Amazon, im an old school gamer and i felt the need to review this particular game because of all the hate and bad reviews it seems to have gotten since release. I have played all the Need for speed titles on Ds and below is a break down of each including undercover, i will not go into detail about the cars in each as they all have a big range that are quite satisfying.1. Need for Speed Underground 2: pretty good graphics at the time but with boxy cars than have awful handling, also the game is very short and has a terrible soundtrack. 2. Need for Speed Most Wanted: the worst game in the ds range, bad graphics, bad gameplay, bad everything. enough said. 3. Need for Speed Carbon: good graphics, problably second to Pro Street. However the cars feel very light and it feels like your playing a micro machine as apposed to a fast sports car. Also because of traffic in the cources you can never use you nitrous boost to the full or you will colide with an oncoming car and flip in the air rather crappily aswell. The game again is quite short with not alot of varety and the soundtrack has like 4 songs that repeatr over and over and are rubbish. 4. Need for Speed Pro Street: ok this one has the best graphics of the ds games no question, the cars are shiny and detailed with added details like tire smoke, exhaust fumes and sparks. The tracks are faily detailed with almost no pop up, However that comes at a price. The the game runs at 30fps with occasional frame rate problems, it is also missing custom vinyl designs for the car. What kills this game for me was the hydraulics mode, kind of a dance dance revolution press the button to the rhythm of the song, what were the developers thinking adding this? it is almost impossible to complete and hinders you progress to complete the game if you dont. Add to this some repetative cources and designs that were downright odd and not fun like drag and the oval indy car type ones along with a useless damage model taht isnt visual to the car and you have to pay for repairs after ecah race and a bad sountrack of out of place music and this one does not deserve to be called the best DS NFS as some claim. 5. Need for Speed Undercover: This game comes third after Carbon and Pro street in the graphics department. The cars have less detail than those two titles and detail on the other racers cars are non existent when all of them are on the screen. The tracks however are detailed but do have pop up affecting draw distance in fast races. However i feel the graphics have taken a hit so the game could include an almost free roam mode in a huge city. I say almost because you can drive around this city only when doing a mission, such as hot car mode where you are taking a stolen car to a safe house or scramble mode which is cops/robbers cource and they are also being timed. I still think this is very impressive for a DS game as no other racer on the system has this. The game is also huge in career mode with 65 cources with more variety than the other games like circuit, sprint,all points, knockout, highway battle, cost to state, getaway and checkpoint. I found all of these enjoyable unlike the other titles and only wish a drag cource had been included. Also of note is the game im pretty sure runs at 60fps like underground 2 and carbon with no lag, has a good sense of speed when using the more expensive purchased cars, the cars handle very well, feel weighty and dont skid all over the place on courners like PS and Carbon, the custom vinyl design is back which is awesome and the game has the BEST soundtrack of the ds titles including prodigy, amon tobin, Asian Dub Foundation, Pendulum and Hybrid. These songs did not annoy me when playing the game and have no vocals unlike the annoying ones in PS and Carbon. 6. Need for Speed Nitro: This title is a joke for a NFS game, come on its been turned into a lame arcade racer where you do flying stunts and collect gold rings like sonic! the graphics are also rubbish and almost on Most wanted level. yes it runs smoothly at what looks like 60fps and now races are set in exotic locations like Dubai, Rio De Janeiro, Cairo, singapore etc but i just cant accept this as a NFS title when its been turned into a generic racer. So there you go i reviewed each and my highest praise came for the Undercover title. If you are looking for a more serious racer if you already have played the excelent ds titles mario kart ds and sega superstars racing then i highly recommend undercover. Its better than grid 2, dirt, asphalt 2, need for speed and other similar titles. I guess it also comes down to graphics over gameplay, yes pro street and carbon have great graphics but i felt the gameplay was lacking compared to undercover so if your a graphics person then by all means grab one of those titles. If other reviewers agree with me please post a review as this game deserves it and is prob my fav racer on DS. Sorry if this review is overlong but its my first review! cheers. 2115|R1QHRYIV24WGGP;2115|RLCPJSAMJW7P5;2115|R10X5M4W64CGBC;
