Need for Speed Most Wanted Is Acceptable for GBA Standarts,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Need For Speed: Most Wanted (Video Game)
Overview:
Electronic Arts did a great job designing Need for Speed Most Wanted for the GBA. EA did a superb job creating a 3d video game on the 2d designed GBA. The races have little variety and challenge, but I do recommend this game anyways. Graphics: GBA graphics look noticeably blocky and pixilated, but it is acceptable considering that the GBA was only designed for 2d graphics. However, there are only two types of buildings, on type of tree, and one tunnel style. With the graphics so pixilated, it is hard to see traffic approaching you, imminent turns, and shortcuts. To race the tracks without bumping into walls, colliding with traffic, or missing crucial shortcuts, you will have to spend some time learning the tracks. Gameplay: The gameplay in Need for Speed Most Wanted for the GBA is relatively fun. While you can race against opponents or timers, the opponents are not aggressive and both styles have the same concept, which is to complete the race in the fastest possible time. The police create a reasonably boring pursuit. You have to crash traffic cars before the police even seriously chase you. When police are in full force, the most you see is one police car around you with an occasional barricade or spike strip which only spins you out of control temporarily. Conclusion: Compared to PC games, Need for Speed Most Wanted (GBA) would only receive one star overall, and two stars for fun. I understand though that the GBA's ability is much more limited than the PC's ability. It was for that reason that this video game got five stars for both fun and overall. This game is actually excellent when judged by the GBA standards.

With far more advanced portables out there these days (Sony's PSP and Nintendo's own DS), there are fewer and fewer games being made for the GBA these days, particularly good racers. That's why any GBA owner would hope that EA's Need for Speed: Most Wanted for the GBA is something special indeed, but once you come back to earth you'll realize that it's only decent at best; like many racers for the GBA not named Mario Kart during it's life span. Surprisingly, the game doesn't look half bad most of the time, but the pixelated graphics can mar the tracks, especially when you have to make a sharp turn. The biggest feature of NFS on the console systems is running from the law, and surprisingly, the police AI is actually pretty well done here, even though there's only one police car per race. The career mode is long nicely done here, allowing you to win cash to get new cars and do some upgrades as well, and it's in this department that the game shines. The music is awful however; pretty much a recycled rock/techno mix that's in a repetitive loop, but that's why you have the ability to turn the volume on your GBA down. All in all, Need for Speed: Most Wanted isn't perfect, but for racing fans still holding on to their GBA's, this is worth a look.

my lil bro was the one who bought this game when it first came out for $33 at some game store. for a whole week he liked the game but didnt play the game seriously after that he went and bought dirver 3 and gave the game to me , now for me the game was really cool, "im a big racing game fan" so this game is in my top five right now .It my get boring in the beginning but ones you have allot of points and some experience using the game it becomes more interesting. but if your just looking for a good car game on the gba which is fun to play i say get dirver 3 but if you want to play a racing game get this game its worth it .
