After the review below, I got this email response.

"
After seeing your review on Amazon.com's Need For Speed World Starter Packs Electronic Arts and Amazon.com would like to offer you a "Gold Starter Pack", free of charge. "

This does go a long way to changing my outlook on EA. Of course Amazon has always been my favorite way to shop. I will move my rating up accordingly.

I have been playing this game for about 8 months I guess. I enjoy a lot of things about it. The game controls are WSAD old-school. I have heard some control pads work but I don't think any steering wheel sets do at the moment. There are 50 levels of experience. In most situations, you are protected from players that have vast experience over you as you build experience. You are matched with people remotely near your level and it's fun building up to level 50. The world is pretty big and it's very pretty on full detail. Fun to just free roam and get into impromptu races with other players. I recommend the game even though I am getting ready to complain in the next long explanation.

Many cars are available for free as long as you play and win to save up in-game cash. There is nothing wrong with the free to play experience as long as you understand that others who are willing to spend money can get better cars than you can ever have from in-game cash. So, the more players spend, the greater the divide in performance between strictly free play. That's fine. I enjoy purchasing cars with the exclusivity I enjoyed with that but I recently had a problem with an in-game purchase of a Shelby Cobra.
I bought $25 USD worth of Boost which is the currency you use to buy upgrades, power-ups and upgraded cars etc. This car was described as something totally more than what I actually got. Some kind of bug made the car come in a stripped down, underpowered version with none of the eye-candy that was promised. OK then, I was unhappy. I made a complaint on the NFSW support forum which was ignored for 3 weeks along with 20 or 30 other players with the same problem. Nothing was said about it so I made a web support ticket with EA.
First of all, I got somebody in India who was fluent in English but simply refused to understand the problem. He would give me one answer a day to my complaint that amounted to "wut?". Eventually he stopped responding except with the same form response saying the same thing over and over asking for the info I had already givin him. I "leveled up" my support ticket to another guy from India. This guy was pretty sharp and he said I needed to go to the NFSW support forum for the issue. I explained I had already and had gotten no response for near a month. While waiting for a response for that answer I posted his replies in the support thread on NFSW. Eventually The new support rep from India said to give him the invoice number of my purchase and he would refund me. I did so and he asked for this info again. I gave it again and he asked a third time and I gave it again and asked what the problem was. Bear in mind 24 hrs passes with each response. I managed anger. I also filed a dispute with paypal so that I might get someone to work with me directly a little faster. A dispute with paypal starts with simple communication before anything is done about charge-backs. All I was looking for was what I paid for or my money back and somebody with the ability to help me. I wasn't looking for an easter egg. I wasn't looking to exploit NFSW or EA. I just wanted what I paid for. Know what happened next? They banned me from all of my EA accounts. BF3, NFSW, Crysis2...all I had in origin was locked out to me. This of course blew my mind so I called EA support. Got a super nice guy named Tom who looked into the problem and said he didn't really get it. My account was flagged as fraudulent and locked and as far as he knew, nobody in EA was supposed to ever do what was done. He unlocked my account. Set me free so to speak. But that was the end. I was just out and they never made it right. So if you read all this crap, you are forewarned... EA is a big, quirky company that doesn't really care about you as an individual no surprise there right? but I am still nursing a wound from this and I don't buy EA stuff anymore. Consider how much tolerance you have for being marginalized by this big faceless machine that is EA and there is not a thing you can do about it. Beware.

1.0 out of 5 stars EA has the worst Customer Support EVER! September 10, 2012
By Johng67
Edition:Gold Starter Pack|Amazon Verified Purchase
Recently I have ordered many Starter Packs, I do like the game.
Each Starter Pack comes with 2 cars, After putting in the code for the starter
pack, you then have to claim the cars as "Gifts" even tho you paid for them.
When trying to claim 2 of my cars, from separate starter packs an error occurred
on the Need for Speed World web site and the cars were gone and I did not receive them.
EA customer Service is flat out refusing to help or give me the cars I paid for.
Amazon game me what they said was an Email address to EA help that dealt with Amazon customers.
Not even a reply from them, Even on the NFSW web forum there are many people with the same complains about
EA Customer Support or Should I can EA Lack of Customer Support!
The game is a very good game and the starter packs are well worth it, but beware If something goes wrong
EA isn't willing to help make it right.
