5.0 out of 5 stars where has this guy been all my life?
I really get off on the blues---B.B. King, Albert Collins, Luther Tucker---but rarely do I find a young artist comparable to these old hands. The first time I saw Guy Forsyth perform (at Antone's nightclub in downtown Austin, Texas), I knew that here was one of very few bluesmen whose sound and style come remotely close to those we all know and dearly love. His music...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ah, I've seen the damage and the Needle Gun
A buddy of mine in Austin told me this guy is hot right now(Summer 2005) in TX, like the temperature. So I searched out a couple of CDs. This is deffinetly blues, although I'd say this Guy has more in common with Tom Waits than B.B. King.

Most of it is interesting music, his lyrics are inciteful and to the point. His guitar work and the occational harp...

His music has a very modern, distinctive flavour---he's one of those musicians who you can automatically identify on hearing one of his songs---yet he still manages to tip his hat to the old favourites. All in all, I have to say any fan of the blues absolutely cannot live without this all-powerful hard-rocker's debut album.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Great Blues Album, December 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Needle Gun (Audio CD)
This album showcases a wonderful Austin Band's abilities. The guitar and harmonica explosions are only matched by the Guy's powerful voice. Gil-T provides a rythm that leaves any blues fan shaking at the knees.

Guy Forsyth is a great blues/rock musician from Texas. I saw/heard him perform at the Continental Club in Austin, TX and have purchased many of his CDs from Amazon.

His guitar work and the occational harp break get notice, but I wanted the melodies to hit me up side the head, the way Muddy Waters hits you, or Jimmy Reed, or Elmore James.
That's my kind of blues.

If this is indeed white boy blues, and there are many good players out there, I need a hook.

That said I enjoyed these songs in particular (in sequence)

4) Needle Gun
6) Sweet Alice Blues
9) This is Hip
14) Hometown Boy
