I have very noticeable scars on my face from years of popping zit after zit and my skin tone was very uneven also because of the acne. I have been using this roller for a little over a month and I am so grateful the drastic changes this product has made in such a short amount of time.

One thing to be prepared for is that it is not easy on the skin. Especially at first, it mat hurt a little bit and cause your skin to turn red. Tea tree oil (100% Australian Tea Tree Oil + FREE Blemish Roll-on Stick with Tea Tree Oil) was the one medication that finally cleared up my acne permanently but because it also soothes and softens the skin I also put some on my face about an hour after using the needle roller, right before bed-time. It helps bring the skin tone back to a normal color much more quickly and when I wake up in the morning (I do this each night before I go to bed), my skin is smoother and softer than ever.

I've had all kinds of skin treatments. Thermage, Fraxel, Cosmelon, Alpha Hydroxyl Acid Peels, even a couple of Jessner Peels and I used to use Retin-A. So far, this Needle Roller has been one of the most effective and least expensive things I've tried yet. I read up on it before purchasing and in some cases people have paid as much as $100 for one of these gadgets, so the price was really the main thing that attracted me. I chose the 1.00mm size as it was stated elsewhere that the larger 1.5mm and up will puncture the skin too deeply and cause bleeding. This size seems to be perfect. It abrades the skin enough so that serums (I use Skinbiology Copper with it) will penetrate and be more effective. The abrasion also triggers a "healing response" in the skin, so age spots, scars, etc. (which I consider to be a result of "incomplete healing") have a chance to further heal and diminish or go away entirely. I clean my roller after each use by squirting rubbing alcohol over it and drying off the excess with a blow dryer. It comes in a handy clear plastic case for storage that prevents the needles from touching anything so they remain clean and won't bend. You roll it on an area back and forth about 20 times each direction. Not the most pleasant sensation, it feels like a cactus rubbing on my skin. You can use a numbing cream with it, which I haven't tried yet--but I will. It causes a reddening similar to a sunburn that is usually gone by morning when I use it at night. Otherwise I am able to cover it with some concealer (I use either GloMinerals Camouflage or Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer). I noticed the very next day, after the 1st use, how much younger and better my skin looked. I've also been using it on the back of my hands and they are also looking younger as a result.... I have a DPL and a Lightstim that I use twice a day (both) and I think that ALL of this combined, Derma Roller, Copper Serum, high quality cosmetics and LED red light therapy are a MUCH more effective and extremely affordable way to improve the appearance of my skin, especially in comparison to the $$$ I wasted at the dermatologist's office on the treatments I had (was talked into). March 22, 2013. I have only used this for 10 days, so I will try to update later. The first day, I liked it so much I ordered a second one. It does hurt, but not terribly. I clean it before and after with rubbing alcohol, and use it on clean dry skin. Then I follow immediately with: Watts Beauty 100% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Solution, Paraben & Alcohol Free / Multi-use - 60ml After that I put on my usual night face cream. The hyaluronic acid sucks moisture into your skin, so it makes other creams more effective.

This device works in a couple different ways. It allows your other creams to penetrate more deeply, it causes inflammation which plumps up your skin, it brings blood to the surface so your skin gets better nourishment, and over time this "controlled wounding" is supposed to make more collagen.

After 10 days, the plumping has had an impressive result. The wrinkles above my lip are almost gone, along with the grooves along both sides of my mouth. The wrinkles on my forehead and crow's feet are about 25 percent better. (These have less tissue under them to plump up.) The most dramatic result is my hands, which look 10 years younger, but I have used it more aggressively on them.

It looks like a sunburn for about an hour. I use it a few times a week, and only go over the skin about 5 times. It's too early to know if it is building collagen, but my skin looks great.

I bought this item on April 18, 2013 and started using it immediately on fine lines on my face and a selected amount of stretch marks on my stomach. A little over 6 weeks later, I'm writing a review to report my experience.

LOVE!

I mainly wanted to get rid of the "11"'s between my eyes. I won't inject poison into my face so this was the next best option. Many people report that it didn't work for them but I am reporting that it worked for me! Are they gone? No, that wouldn't be possible. Those are muscles that have been trained over more than 3 decades of repeated facial movements. In my case, I squinted a lot. But....they DO look A LOT better. They are not nearly as deep or noticeable. I am very fair skinned, red hair, freckles so any blemish on my skin is obvious (to me anyway).

Another area I tried was a small acne scar. It is completely gone now. It used to be a small dent in my face, sort of like a dimple. There was a white "thing" in it that I would pick at. It's gone too!

The fine lines around my eyes are noticeably gone - seriously, I look like I am 5 years younger in that area. The lines around my mouth (nasolabial folds) are noticeably less pronounced. This particular device isn't really suited to handle the lines around my lips.

I had a brown spot on my cheek, it's completely gone now. All over, my face looks brighter, smoother and my skin hasn't looked better in years.

I have noticed a slight improvement in the test stretch marks, but mostly because I wasn't too diligent with them.

My process was: wash my face with gentle cleanser and rinse with warm water. I would roll in an asterisk shape (*) on the target area, up and down (or back/forth)about four times each.... I would follow with a good moisturizer - I used basic Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion SPF 15 Moisturizer with Sunscreen, 13.5 Ounce most often, but also used Hydroxatone Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Complex, Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum, Fragrance Free, 1.7-Fluid Ounces and AINHOA Whitess Caviar Renewal Serum, 1.05 Fluid Ounce. Honestly, I think any good moisturizer works fine, whatever works for your skin. It doesn't need to be expensive. Pure coconut oil works great too!!

Does it hurt? No, not really. It feels like you have a light sunburn for about 45 minutes after use. During use, it didn't feel bad to me - on a scale of 1-10, 1 being no pain and 10 being the worst, I'd say a 2. No more painful than plucking eyebrows. I used it about once, maybe twice a week. I cleaned it by running super hot water on it and splashing some rubbing alcohol on it before putting it away. I always washed my face immediately before use. I never had any rashes, breakouts or any other negative response.

I didn't tell my husband that I was using what amounts to a rolling pin with needles in it on my face - he thinks I'm kooky enough already. Besides, I wanted to see if he would notice a difference and he DID. He asked if I had been drinking more water or using something different on my face because I look YOUNGER. And no, he wasn't just flattering me, he was being totally honest, I promise.

My final thoughts: This worked for me, inexpensive, was low maintenance, easy to use and no poison injected in my skin. Read more ›
