I am a weaver and work with heaver threads, 3/2 rug wool etc. I like to hem stitch my projects (much better finish I think) but getting that heavy 3/2 thread through the needle's eye can be a real pain. I tried all the wire threaders. Some worked once, some worked a couple of times, one broke before I got the first needle threaded. Finally my wife gave me a Loran threader. IT WORKS!!!!! I had only the one and when I lost it, I went nuts trying to fine it. After looking everywhere (and I DO mean everywhere) I figured it just to have been picked up with some scraps and put in the waste bin. I dumped the waste bin out, and sure enough, there it was. Boy was I relieved. Now I'm going to get several more. I will NOT be without a Loran threader.

I've tried them all. Needle threaders are not all created equal. I stitch with three strands of embroidery floss and I'm over 50 so close work can be difficult. You know, those eyes can't see close up so well anymore. But this needle threader that I can no longer find in any stores is a must have. (I used to buy it at Wal-Mart.) Buy a few because your friends will want one. I've given away lots of them. Quilters love them too. Even if you're threading plain old thread, this threader will make that task easier also. And the larger end will help you thread yarn for your larger diameter yarn, or hemp cord, or whatever type project this threader makes the job easier!

I didn't realize how nice the Lo-Ran threader is until I lost mine and had to use a different threader. The Lo-Ran has two really good features: a place to rest the needle and no hole to push the fiber through. You put the Lo-Ran threader through the eye and you can hang the needle on the notch while you drape your fiber over the hook. It's so easy. You don't have to force thick fibers like Rainbow Gallery's Frosty Rays or Kreinik's braids through a hole, which can speed wear and fraying of the fiber. I also recommend putting a string, or something, through that hole in the body of the threader to make it easier to keep track of. I now have my replacement on a 12" loop of yarn that I can drape over my needlepoint stand. Since it's magnetic, I also place it on a strip of magnetic tape on my stand.

I had amasive stroke 10 years ago so can only use my right hand and my left hand can hold my needlework. This is the best of allthe needle threaders and I've tried all of them. Maybe a person who uses 2 hands can use the others but for me, this is a life saver. I love creating needle work. It keeps me going.

I lost my needle threader, and this type is a must have for needle work. I still love it.
Long after I received the new one, the old one surfaced, but what a treat to have two!

This is the handiest tool for threading those "large eye" needles. I am very new at beading, and really was struggling to try and thread those 'large eye ' needles, I saw this and knew I at least had to try it, and its super, super. super.
I highly recommend it.

I have used this type for years. What I like is that it is flat metal and sticks to a magnetic needle pin so I have it at hand. I use it most for threading waxed heavy thread for braiding horse manes at horse shows where it is truly easy to lose a needle (or a threader) in a pile of shavings.
