My accounting professor was awful and it was this book that saved my grade in the class. It provides very detailed explanations and summaries of each concept it covers throughout the chapter, not just at the end of the section. The accompanying working papers and study guide were also very informative and helpful.

I'm in an MBA program right now and still refer back to this book for my intermediate accounting course. I'm a tough judge on books, coming from the UC system, and let me tell you - this is one of the best written textbooks I have ever encountered. Period.

I have read many accounting books but am using this one for my intro to accounting course because I wanted a refresher. It is the most clear and understandable that I have come across. I would highly recommend this book to people who aren't necessarily wanting to get a CPA but need to know enough accounting for say Financial, Planning and Analysis positions.

This textbook, although outragously priced is a real keeper. I plan on buying another, just to keep.. I bought the first one to give away. I would defn. Recomend this book!

After nearly a decade after finishing my undergraduate work I decided to go back for an advance degree in business. To qualify for entry into a program I needed to take two principles of accounting classes. The instructor used this book for both classes. The layout of the book is excellent because it builds from simple concepts to more complex ones in a logical format. Each chapter also has a summary that reviews key points you must fully understand to be successful in the course. There are plenty of practice problems included but almost none of them have check figures or answer keys so the student can study independently and see if he/she is on the right track. This was probably done so the problems could be assigned as graded homework. Well, having 10-20 questions with answers while leaving all others without answers would have been a much better way to do things. Another plus with this book is how it is inclusive of minorities when it comes to the wording of the text. Problems can be quoted as "Gomez company purchased...." or "Patel Inc's balance sheet for....".

The cons with the book are that it has a few editing errors where one or two numbers in a chart are off and it drives the student crazy figuring out why things are not the way they should be. A later edition might not have these issues. The text is also a bit wordy and over complicates things that are very simple and can be explained with less than half the words. Just hope that you have a good instructor that cares out the students and will lecture so well that the book will become a supplimental source of information instead of the primary one. God help you if you have an instructor that uses Power Point slides and just reads from the book in class. Just the concept of debits and credits is very difficult to understand if you have to go at it alone with the book.

This book was presented at Amazon.com as a 100% brandnew item. However, When I received this book, its corners bent a lot as if the book had been used. I don't think the book is brandnew as advertised. The seller should have described the book conditions truthfully.

The book was fine...the book was required for my accounting class. It was the fact that at the bookstore on campus the book came with a special subscription for an online internet study and worksheet site. I had to order that at an additional price of $100. In the long run it would have been cheaper to buy it at the bookstore on campus!!

The image and description of the book that was provided did not match the product that I received. I received the Instructor's Edition of the book instead of the Student Edition. The Teacher's Edition cannot be sold back at my school's bookstore, so I am out a lot of money because of this error.
