This comprehensive review on neem is an excellent collation of observations and research efforts by botanists, taxonomists and medical practitioners and will be of interest to everyone with an interest involved in medicinal and aromatic plant research.
After my Master's degree in Botany from Panjab University, I joined the Indian Council of Medical Research and later Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha, where I extensively studied Ethnobotany of tribal regions in many areas of India, and also Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry of the herbs used in Ayurveda.
I was awarded doctorate for my research work by Punjab University. After that I received Postdoctoral Commonwealth Scholarship to conduct research in the Pharmacognosy Group in the University of Bath(UK). I was also awarded "Specialist Grant" by the Finnish government to work at Helsinki University. Later I treceived "INSA-Royal Society Fellowship" for higher research, at School of Pharmacy, Nottingham University (UK).
I was short term consultant for international agencies: UNIDO and FAO, and represnted India in a Commonwealth Seminar on Standrdisation of Herbs in Colombo (Srilanka).
I am Honorary Member of National Institute of Medical Herbalist (UK) and Consultant American Herb Assocition. I have authored seven books and about one hundred research papers/articles on various aspects of Indian herbs.
