I am highly impressed with this flash so far. I own a Canon 580II but wanted a flash for second body and something that would provide some decent functionality but I didn't want to spend $250 for the Canon 430II. This Neewer NW-670 appears to be the answer at an unbelievable price too, just $49! I've shot a couple hundred pics with the flash on both my 7D and 1DS mk III and the results are pretty amazing. The build quality is fairly solid as well. Here is a better breakdown of the features:
* Yes it really is E-TTL II
* Wireless trigger (IR) on the side of the body
* External battery pack compatible
* PC sync port
* Relatively fast recycle time <3 seconds
* LCD display
* Metal hot shoe
* Front and Rear curtain sync
* Memory settings
* Projected focusing grid (assists focusing in dark conditions)
* Power Zoom head 24-105 (little noisy)
* The case is nothing to brag about, it's a cheap nylon bag with a draw string
* Solid construction and shockingly good build quality
* The head does not lock but the click-to-set is stout enough.

I plan to use this over the holiday this weekend and will report back on its performance.

Firstly, to clear up any confusion, the is a review for the Neewer 565EX flash. It appears that reviews for other flash models have cropped up here as well.

So, how is this flash? For the money, and even several times the money, it's pretty darn good. Side by side, the Neewer flash is 1.5 ounces heavier and about 1" longer. It's a touch less powerful, guide number-wise and it's not fully compatible with my PocketWizard Flex and mini. It also costs 1/10 as much as the SB-800. I can buy ten of these for what it costs to buy one of the Nikon flashes.

On camera it functions perfectly! So far I've used it with my D90 and D600. It has worked flawlessly every time. If you're not used to a TTL flash, what happens is the camera and flash share information such as focal length, subject distance, and exposure to get you closer to a "good" exposure the first time. Of course you are always free to tweak things to make it better because one person's good is another person's High-key exposure.

The flash recycles quickly, has a clear and when you turn on the backlight bright display. The head pivots a full 360 degrees and tilts everywhere from straight up to 7 degrees down. It comes with a nylon case and Stofen-like diffuser.

Honestly, of someone walked up to me on the street and offered me a choice between the SB-800 or 565EX at no cost I would pick the SB-800. If nothing else, I could sell it on eBay and buy ten of the... OK, that' s not my point. My point is that even if you already have an SB-800, or perhaps especially if you do, this flash will make an excellent backup.

I am very pleased with the performance of this flash unit on my Nikon D3200 DSLR and especially considering the cost.

The flash worked great for me when using as an on camera flash. I however needed it for off camera work and since this particular unit goes to sleep with no way of turning the sleep function off, i found myself shooting, then it falls a sleep then I have to hit the button to wake it back up. It was okay for a session but for a multi light set up at a reception it is best to use this ON camera and your other flashes be off camera.

When I bought this and opened it, I hoped to quickly learn how to use it. I was trying to read the manual that came with it. The first half is in Japanese. And the second half is in English, but obviously written by a Japanese who has a poor understanding of English. The equipment looks nice; I hope to learn it. Despite the manual.

After attempting to use the manual, I am about to give up on it and look elsewhere for some on-line help with this product. The very first words of instruction (in English) are:

"AF-Assist illuminator
When working under a darkness condition, the automatic AF which is in the right ahead of the flash light may temporary project red hard light to assist focusing. It may disturb the subject, you can turn to manual focusing."

A page later, in explaining how to turn the speedlite off, the manual states:

"After automatically shut off the power opened, When the speedlite do not working within 60 seconds, the CPU automatically into hibernation."

I have typed this exactly as it appears in the manual. This is ridiculous.

I am giving the product a four star rating because I had to give some rating in order to continue. The equipment looks nice, and has good reviews, so I am hoping that it lives up to my rating. If I ever learn how to use it.

Works well. Much better than paying $300+ for a flash. Owner's manual is very difficult to understand. Had to do some online research for more information.

The build quality is excellent at this price point.The real killer here is the manual , its worded horribly and just misses the point of what a manual is for, to help you get the most out of the product as possible.There is little, if any at all customer support. You cant even find this model on their website. If anybody out there that has translated the manual into something understandable please share.The next time I buy a third party flash, I'm going to check the manufacturer's website and check the manual before I purchase anything .
