The audio quality I get from this cable is actually pretty amazing. I wasn't expecting it to be this good. I'm VERY happy with this. I use it to connect my iPod nano to my aux port in my car.
These are dirt cheap and work great.

For the people who complain about the retractable part not working, you clearly don't read instructions. It says not to pull one end at a time. You are supposed to pull both ends at once.
It works fine.

And think of it this way, even if the retractable part breaks because you can't follow simple instructions, then it just becomes a NORMAL non retractable cable. So who cares?
I read some people saying they bought a normal non retractable cable after the mechanism broke? That doesn't make any sense... This BECOMES a normal cable if it breaks...

Item as advertised and works fine. Good alternative to higher priced items out there. Works especially good on my iPhone 4S that I have a case on, i.e. the jack on this item is small so it doesn't interfere with the case.

i bought this in may 2012 and have been using it daily in my car to connect to my ipod. the aux connection for the cable is up on the console near the clock, and so i kept the cord stretched out pretty consistently at half its maximum distance. a few weeks ago the cable stopped working correctly - and i don't mean the retraction feature. the audio stopped coming through clearly and it requires constant and finicky adjustments to listen to while driving now. i've experienced similar issues with my headphones, but those i am using much more roughly and thoroughly than this, a stationary cord. i expect headphones to eventually fail since i'm winding them up, unwinding, connecting, disconnecting etc, but this cord stayed in place and wasn't often moved or retracted. unfortunately, its life was less than 7 months. it is a decision to ask yourself - are you ready to replace this every six months or so? i think i am, since its only a dollar - but the quality here is lacking.

After few months it does not lock when the cable is pulled out. It also gives static/mono sounds at times, so I believe its connection is broken internally.

Very happy with item although was not same as pictured. Only difference was color other than that saved me a bundle over radio shacks $9 cord that does same thing just not retractable. Would recommend to anyone who needs a cheap cord to play iPod, iPad ect through stereo.

I bought this thinking that these cords were all the same. They are not. This cord is thin and lasted me a total of 1 month. I ended up getting a more expensive Amazon basics version and trust me, once you get a hold of the Amazon Basics one, you'll see and feel the difference. The Amazon one is much thicker and has lasted me months now. So do yourself a favor and skip out on this cheap version. Sure its cheap now but if you have to replace it after a month, what value is that?

Shipment took forever but it was because it was coming from honkkong but it works great so far. It does look cheap but so far it hasn't gave me any problem. So you pretty much get what you paid for
