I don't have massive hands and I feel like I'm reaching a bit.

I put a piece of black electrician's tape under it to cushion the screw down process and snugging the fit so I wouldn't have to reef on it.
Gary Smith
Although marketed for the Fuji X-E1, this thumb grip works perfectly on the Fuji X100.

After browsing the Match, Lensmate and Fuji ergonomic thumbrests for the Fujifilm x100s, I happened upon this one on Amazon. It's aluminum and in black looks decent on the camera. Rather than using the screw that came with this, I cut a strip of business card (I used a Moo plastic coated card) the size of the part that inserts into the hotshoe. With the card this thumbrest friction fits tightly enough that you don't really need the screw to hold the thumbrest in place. So I totally removed the screw.

This thumbnuts improves the ergonomics enough that I find holding the camera with one hand is much easier than without it. Is it better then the Match, Lensmate or Fuji solutions? I don't know. Unless I find out that it's radioactive or made out of a toxic metal or something, I'd say that it works and It cost less than $$15.00 including shipping. That is a win in my book.

This is one of those products you think for the price it must suck. Well, it doesn't. No reason to go spend close to or above 100 for these things. This works. It's made of metal, feels right, looks right.

I tighten my screw just the right amount so that it fits snug yet i can just pull it off to pop on a remote trigger. No marks or issues. the screw aligns into the little channel that the X-E1 has on the hot shoe. nothing gets damaged.

again, this is the cheapest and best accessorie you can get for your Fuji.

Bought this for my X pro1, its about 1 - 1.5 inch too short and feels absolutely awkward to grip on, the screw leaves a mark on the camera's hot shoe.

This item mentioned being compatible with the X-Pro 1, but I wasn't expecting it to be a perfect fit since it also mentioned another camera models, so it's a one-size-fits-all situation. After putting it on, It really does fit nicely and it places your thumb in a really natural position, at least for my large hands. It uses an allen wrench to tighten it down. It's very light, I would guess it's aluminum or something, and the matte paint isn't horrible, it's just not perfect. Fine with me.

The only thing I was concerned about was that as the screw tightens, it presses against the contact of the hot shoe. There's a small strip of clear tape or something to protect it a little (As you can see in the product pictures), but after tightening it once, it gets all ripped up and stretched. I just put two layers of electrical tape on the bottom of it to give it some cushion when it's tightened, and a small quarter turn was enough to make it snug.

This is the cheapest thumb rest/grip I've seen around, even compared to the popular ebay ones, so I would definitely recommend it. I actually like the fact that it's not machined specifically for the X-Pro, so I can use it with whatever camera I'm using.

Recently bought an X-E1 and have been enjoying it, but was getting frustrated with accidentally bumping the exposure compensation dial all the time. Enter this piece; it really makes holding the camera much more comfortable and I haven't bumped the dial since it was installed so it works for my needs. However, it's a cast piece and not a machined piece so they painted it silver; not the most exact color match or the highest quality, but compared to over $100 for a machined piece, I think it'll be OK. The black set screw is a bit of a bummer (they do make silver ones), as well as the need of a set screw at all. A small leaf spring or more precise casting would negate the need for the set screw, but these are all small quibbles. The one annoyance to keep in mind is that it does make accessing the shutter speed dial a LITTLE more difficult, so if you are constantly setting the shutter speed manually, you may not want this on the camera. Luckily I don't and only go between auto shutter speed and bulb so it works great for me. all these quibbles added up to only one star as even the shutter dial is still usable, it just takes a little more effort. Overall I'm happy and would rather have this than not.

fits my x100 perfectly, installs in 30 seconds, very comfortable hold, excellent price.
if you're thinking about it, just get it, it is very useful and might one day prevent you from letting your camera slip to the ground.

The only negative is that you need to take it off to install off camera flash. There are grips which double as hot shoe extensions, but they are MUCH more expansive. I do not need that feature on X100. There's an excellent on board flash that suits me just fine.

I got this for the same reasons everyone does, to give my hand a thumb rest/anchor point that also provides some additional grip for my X-E1. It goes in place well and fits snugly. The only quibble is that I wish the swoop - the thumb rest - were a tad further to the right. I don't have massive hands and I feel like I'm reaching a bit. It's by no means terrible, just less comfortable for my grip than it could be.

Obviously, just remember that with this in place you can't use the hot shoe port. When I want to use external flash with a transmitter, I always have to remove it, so I've ended up keeping it off.

I added a Really Right Stuff base and grip because I have the RRS ball heads already with my other Nikon gear. It's a ridiculous sum of $ to spend on that, but it's very well machined and it provides the best grip for the X-E1 that I've come across. There is an Arca Swiss style version on Amazon I believe.

It does what it's supposed to, but it doesn't work quite as I expected it too, so it has a tad lower rating.
