Score on for the girls! So many of the books suggested to supplement ancient history appeal to the boys. This one is different - your daughters will love it. My daughter, a reluctant reader, read this book cover to cover without the usual prodding. The story is told by Nefertiti herself! The author has cleverly written it as if Nefertiti was telling us the story in her own words. The book has several educational photographs sprinkled throughout to keep the reader engaged. Homeschoolers! Get your hands on a copy to flesh out your history lesson (MOH or Tapestry). This is an oldy but goody! You will probably have to buy this used. Worth every bit of effort it takes to track it down - it's a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Nefertiti; Mystery-Queen" review, February 1, 1999

This book was great! My name is Paola, and I am in 6th grade. This month (January) my class had 3 weeks to do a report on any Egyptian Leader. I picked Nefertiti! I found this book, "Nefertiti; Mystery Queen", and it was the formula to all my sources! I needed to write my report in first-person point-of-view, and this book gave me the right idea on how I should write my report. The pictures in it also helped me think of props I could use for my report. This book is great, I recommend it! (Oh, by the way, my report is due this week! Can't wait for my grade!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not outstanding, October 6, 2009
This review is from: Nefertiti, the Mystery Queen (Library Binding)
This book is written in the first person by an imaginary Nefertiti telling her story. For years, it was doubted that she even existed, because her name wasn't in any official record, only in Egyptian stories. But, then her tomb was found in 1912....

Nefertiti was the Queen of Egypt in the 14th century B.C. Her husband was Amenhotep IV, the very interesting Pharaoh who tried to change Egypt from a nation that worshipped many Gods into a nation worshipping only one, Aton, the god of the sun. Nefertiti was also the mother-in-law of King Tut.

This is an interesting story. Interspersed are some photographs (mostly black-and-white) of Egyptian artifacts, locations, etc. If you can get ahold of this book without to much time or money expended, then great. But, I wouldn't consider this book a "must-have," even for a homeschooling family like ours.
