Intruiging And Interesting, But Not Breathtaking!, February 10, 2009
This review is from: Nefilim (Audio CD)
This disc is one of my least favorites I think among Dwane's works.
The production and melodies are not as tight as his other CD's and every know and then some tracks feels a bit repetitive and lose it's structure a bit.
Apart from this, I find this to be a quite intruiging and interesting output with layers of warm and dramatic effects that builds the songs nice & slowly with a almost tribal rhythm. It has similarities to the album "The Sirius Link", but I still think this one has to be slightly more polished to be a perfect CD. The use of the MIDI guitar isn't as obvious as in most of his other releases, so to me, it lost it's edge somehow.
Still, there are a few great songs on here, and those would be 'Synthetic Species', 'Genetic Drift' and 'Lifeforms'. Those tracks are quite upbeat and takes you on a 'rollercoaster ride'. So if you are a fan of his music then you should also make sure to include this disc in your collection, despite the, at times, repetitive tracks. It's worth it!
