1.0 out of 5 stars leave this story neglected.....
I could not finish this book. It was just, frankly boring and very slow. The hero of the story has not only been a neglectful guardian-never even seeing his ward for 4 years, but a snobbish boor, a "woman hater" and a jerk besides.

Totally skipworthy-no stars.

This is a great story with a little bit of mystery. It no Agatha Christie, but the mystery is enough to hold the reader's attention without taking over the romance and growing relationship between the characters. The runaway ward is a little too understanding about her misappropriated funds, but the hero does not disappoint. He recognizes his feelings and treats his ward with understanding and respect. Unlike some heroes, he values her opinion and discusses important things with her. He does not try to hide information that could get her killed. The story was very sweet.
