Book Description

March 1, 2007
Negotiation skills are critical for success in project management. The project manager depends on top management, other functional managers and the project team members for teh resources and support needed to complete the project. Project managers negotiate the scope of the project, the budget, timeline, resources and changes that arise during the project. A manager with good negotiation skills can reach a win-win agreement and still achieve better business results than an unskilled negotiator. This program will review: the objectives of negotiations, traits needed in negotiations, steps in negotiating, tactics, and common mistakes. (Audio CD)

This review is from: Negotiation Basics for Project Managers (Audio CD)
I expected so much more when I ordered this audio book. What I got was a 39 minute recorded lecture that was poorly recorded and very boring to listen to.

The lecture is read from notes and you hear the speaker fumble for words while he rustles papers and looks for the next thing to say. The speaker stumbles through sentences and tells worthless stories to make points. That said, the content is ok if you want very basic negotiation information.

The audio book has very little to do with project management, no way I can recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time.money, February 5, 2008
This review is from: Negotiation Basics for Project Managers (Audio CD)
This was a complete waste of money. All he says is when negiotiating win-win you don't always split down the middle: stupid anecdote about spinsters with an orange - one getting the peel and one getting the meat of the orange - to demonstrate this. That's about it.
Drivel.
