This review is from: A Negro Explorer at the North Pole (Illustrated Edition) (Dodo Press) (Paperback)
It's never a great idea to write a review when one is only partway through a book, but this book is a treat & I'm sorry I'm already 1/2way through it! Matthew Henson has a very easy-to-read style, erudite in that educated 19th Century way, with a lightness of touch & wit that ensures it's never dull. He has a quirkiness of vision that grabbed me right off....at times he reminds me of Mark Twain, with that dry wit Samuel Clemens did so well.
If the book declines in any fashion I'll edit the review, but I seriously doubt I'm going to run across any reason to downgrade my rating. Wish he wrote more! |
