Until this book, I had never heard of this writer. Ms. Patterson knows how to write a gripping story. She took me from one cliff hanger to the next expertly. I love her main characters. Ashlynn and Sean are a great husband/wife team, and the chemistry between them is very evident. Ashlynn is a very strong female character that girls can look up to. She's tougher than she thinks and is able to endure more than she thinks she can. Sean, who is a homicide cop, realizes just how much his wife means to him at the prospect of losing her forever. The range of emotions Ms. Patterson takes him through is very realistic. This only makes the man sexier. Whew!

When Ashlynn pokes her nose where it doesn't belong she raises suspicions about who she really is. Even when faced with the fact she could lose her life she puts other peoples' safety above her own. I couldn't help but root for her and Sean. The mystery is a good one, and one that I could piece together but didn't solve as easily as most cases. The thing I liked best about the book are the characters. This is a new series and I hope the next book comes out very very soon.

I've found me a new writer to follow and I intend to read more of her work. You won't be wasting your money if you purchase this book. Kudos Ms. Patterson on a good read.
