4.0 out of 5 stars Use on lugs with electric impact
I purchased an electric impact wrench a couple of months ago to allow me to rotate my tires more easily. It worked great to remove the lugs, but I was afraid to use it to tighten them back for fear of over tightening. I then found these wonderful devices. I can now use the electric impact wrench fully engaged until they stop at a given torque setting. You can see the...

1.0 out of 5 stars These are truly defective/dangerous products.
Utilizing a 19.2V Cordless Impact Wrench, lug nuts would go on about hand tight. Utilizing a Craftsman Air Impact Wrench at 125 psi (max) air pressure, the best the 110 ft/lbs extension bar would tighten is 80 ft/lbs. The torque bars are ABSOLUTELY USELESS, and would create a huge safety issue to rely on them for anything like wheel lugs or nuts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Use on lugs with electric impact, May 1, 2011

I purchased an electric impact wrench a couple of months ago to allow me to rotate my tires more easily. It worked great to remove the lugs, but I was afraid to use it to tighten them back for fear of over tightening. I then found these wonderful devices. I can now use the electric impact wrench fully engaged until they stop at a given torque setting. You can see the shaft of the bar flex, but the lug stops moving. I checked the 90 ft-lb bar versus my large torque wrench and they were within about 5 ft-lbs from one another. I trust my wrench, so I am assuming that the bar is a little on the low side. I am overall happy with my purchase. I like that the impact sockets came in the set also and the color coding makes it easy to find the correct items.

I purchased this set a little over two years ago. These are used at home in my garage with an Aircat air impact wrench and saves so much time. The entire kit has worked well with no issues. The nylon sleeves around the outside of the sockets have held-up well and are not falling off. The torque sticks seem to work well. I have not had any loose lug nuts using this set. However, I have never used a torque wrench for lug nuts so I cannot provide comparison between the sticks' rated versus actual torque values. The case has held up nicely too.

4.0 out of 5 stars great buy, December 13, 2010

The torque bars that come with this kit are super handy to have and work greate. The sockets are also good quality, but I had to remove a star since wheel protectors on the sockets get loose after using them a few times. It's not really a big deal to slide them back on, but annoying sometimes.

Well made and a must have, tools like this are the difference between a "shade tree" and a true mechanic / technician. Yes you can tighten a lug without using a torque device to get the value right.

But you are also likely to be the one with warped rotors, the one installing new studs wondering why, or the one who can not change a wheel on the side of the road due to seized or stripped threads. I have heard so called mechanics say crossthread is better than no thread.

Don't be that guy or gal. Do it right the first time with the right tools.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice - but contentious, August 24, 2011

The sockets are nice, great for delicate wheels.

The use of torque sticks is contentious as opposed to a torque wrench, personally I use a lower stick and then use my click torque wrench if time allows, if not (such as racing) I use a stick higher and rattle them up.

A handy extra included is the torque and socket chart for lots of common models.

The sockets are fine (of little consolation).
