5.0 out of 5 stars 7" cut-off/chop saw
It does the job well for its size and money. I am cutting aluminum rectangle to length. Cuts it quickly with minimal loading. Saves me a lot of time in comparison to cutting it by hand with a hack saw. This was the primary reason for its purchase. Stores easily and compact. Standard size blade for replacement or alternative cutting configurations. Was a good purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Failed Quickly.
I bought this to cut through 1/2" mild steel balusters for a staircase I was putting in my home. I estimate it made approx 80 cuts over 4 days. I was not quite finished the job when the motor seized completely. I have contacted eToolscity twice by email to see about getting a replacement, and neither email was responded to. I contacted Amazon to get a phone number, but...

5.0 out of 5 stars Handier than large chop saws, April 16, 2009

Combine this with a thin kerf (I used .045) abrasive disk and this saw cuts quickly with little waste. You can't get thin disks for big chop saws. Doesn't take up much space in the shop and is easy to move around. Exactly what I needed. Highly recommended for anything less than heavy construction work.

I will not buy from eToolscity again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not happy with this product, February 4, 2010
I bought the "other" model of this saw that is listed for a few dollars less. Its motor seized completely after 4 days (80 cuts) of use cutting 1/2" mild steel. I purchased this tool a couple of months before I used it, so the 30 day limit for having Amazon handle the claim was over before I opened the box. Any attempt to contact Etoolcity was met with no reply at all.

Thankfully my investment in the saw was minimal, but I would have at least liked a return email from these folks!

I am a home renovator and I am picky about the tools I buy, but I seldom need a cutoff saw so this small tool looked appealing. I should have doubled my investment and bought a proper cutoff saw instead of throwing money away on this one. Customer Support is non-existent with this vendor, so buyer beware.

This piece of junk caught fire and died on me within a week of use. It would have cost me almost as much in shipping to return it than it did to buy it. Do not buy.

The Cut off saw is not very powerful and the table is made of very light steel. definitely not for big projects. it strained to go through a piece of 1/4" x 1/2" steel.

3.0 out of 5 stars damaged goods, June 10, 2010

When I got the neiko chop saw,I could see that the packing box was damaged.Didn't really think nothing about it.So I opened it up and seen the saw box had been damaged also but could see no damage to the saw.The saw won't cut straight,it cut's straight horizontally but not vertically,I reckon I am stuck with it now since I let it go for a while and didn't say nothing about it to the delivery guy,but I didn't know it was bent and wouldn't cut straight until about 3 week's later.Alway's inspect everything when you get it and don't wait to say something about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Blade Can't Be Replaced Without Making it Dangerous, October 20, 2010
This review is from: Neiko High-Speed 7" Abrasive-Wheel Cut-Off Saw - 3/4 HP (Misc.)
I've had this saw for a few years, and it's been very handy for cutting aluminum angle stock and small steel stock. It's worked rather well for occasional small jobs, and I was very happy with it until a month ago when I decided to change the blade and found that I misplaced the blade purchased for the saw.

I ordered some replacement blades recently from Amazon, and just installed one. The problem isn't the lack of a blade turn locking mechanism, as another reviewer has commented, since you can push it down on a block of wood to loosen or tighten. The problem is that there is no clearance in insert a new blade without completely disassembling the lower end bearing assembly. After you do that, and finally get a new blade in, you will discover that you can't re-assemble the saw with the safety spring in place. So you assemble it without the spring, and yes the saw will work that way, but it is dangerous to use. Releasing the saw it will not spring up away from the work, and there is no stop to keep the saw from sawing a hole in your workbench. If you have kids around, don't even think about leaving the saw in this unsafe condition.

I think I can rig a new stop and use a different spring, one that can be easily removed and replaced. But is this saw really worth all the trouble? Not.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY, May 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Neiko High-Speed 7" Abrasive-Wheel Cut-Off Saw - 3/4 HP (Misc.)
DO NOT BUY THIS SAW. THERE IS NO WAY, OR SHOULD I SAY NO EASY WAY TO CHANGE THE DAMN WHEEL ONCE IT IS WORN OUT. MYSELF AND THREE EMPLOYEES WHERE STUNNED FOR ONE HOUR AS WE COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT AS THERE IS NO LOCKING MECHANISM TO LOCK THE ASSEMBLY SO THAT THE NUT CAN BE LOOSENED WITH A WRENCH JUST AS YOU WOULD WITH ANY OTHER TYPE OF CUT OFF SAW. WE COULD NOT EVEN BEGIN TO UNDERSTAND WHY SOME ONE OR SOME COMPANY WOULD BOTHER TO MAKE A TOOL, EVEN A CHEAP ON, AND NOT INCLUDE THE NECESSARY MECHANISMS AS WE ARE DESCRIBING. WE TRIED CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER WITH THE NUMBER AMAZON PROVIDED AND GUESS WHAT THE NUMBER IS DISCONNECTED.. WE EMAILED THE SELLER AND WE ARE WAITING FOR A REPLY, NOT HOLDING OUR BREATHS ON THAT ONE. ONE LAME PERSON AT AMAZON TRIED TO CONVINCE ME THAT SELLERS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS THEY PURCHASE AND SELL TO CONSUMERS; WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT IS ABOUT, ULTIMATELY A LOT OF WISHFUL THINKING ON THEIR PART.
WE ARE JUST PRAYING THAT WE OVERLOOKED SOMETHING AND THAT WE ARE WRONG BUT SO FAR THIS LOOKS LIKE A LOST CAUSE, $60 IN THE TRASH BECAUSE SOMEONE WHO IS PROBABLY DROWNING IN THE SEWER RIGHT NOW WANTED TO HAVE A LAUGH A FEW YEARS BACK WHEN THINGS DID NOT SEEM SO BAD.. OH WELL OUR LIFE GOES ON; DON'T BUY THIS TOOL.
