This looked well-made at first glance only. The main rail had about 5mm of total curvature, the inner rail had about 1mm of play, and the end-stop was crooked. The motion is also rough and drifts unless you lock it down. I would only trust it to a few hundredths, getting worse as you approach the terminal length, because of the bowed rail.

If this is typical assembly quality, the carrying case is (relatively) the best thing about this product. They should downgrade the rated accuracy for slack in the rails. It's probably based on the read-head's potential on a much better frame.

Those who give this (and other cheap calipers) good reviews may not have used "real" calipers for reference. You can't know something is "accurate" unless you have a benchmark. I just took a chance on it for simple shop work.

I recevied the caliper in a timely manor but it was defective. I sent a email to the supplier but never received a reply. At this time I would not purchase other products from them.

Product looked good on arrival, even with a spare battery. Immediately turned out to be junk. The display was erratic, constantly generating seemingly random numbers and obviously did not read accurately, not even close to the actual dimension. I cleaned the rail with cotton cloth as suggested in the manual but it did not help. It never returned to the original zero-gap value. Something probably wrong with the capacitive sensor. It is heading back to the vendor.

This product was well built and worked as advertised. I have no way to check its accuracy, however. For my applications I am not concerned with super accuracy. The inch and mm selection is useful for me. The unit came with a dead battery in the caliper but there was a spare battery in the case.

I must have gotten a good one. When tested against items of known dimensions this little caliper was right on. Considering the price, I almost feel as though I stole it. I'll definitely consider Neiko for future precision equipment needs.

Arrived with dead battery but package included a replacement. Unfortunately it was impossible to get an accurate measurement as the unit jumped around in 5 mm increments. Totally useless.

I bought this to help me select wood stock and hardware from a selection of standard sizes. I trust it enough to do that, since accuracy is relative. But when testing unknown thicknesses the repeatbility of measurements from just this tool on a single sample was about hundreths of an inch. If that's what you need, then this inexpensive tool will work for you. If you're used to the 'good stuff' at work, then you'll be disappointed.

To be honest, for the price I paid I didn't expect much. I liked the idea that it would display metric, inches and inch-fractions. I didn't need it to be super-accurate, but I thought perhaps it would be kinda accurate.

No such luck. After changing the dead battery that came installed in the unit (the manufacturer helpfully provided a spare in the package), I could not get a single consistent reading. The instructions recommended disassembling the unit and cleaning the sensor, but the instructions did not explain how to disassemble the unit without destroying it completely.

Dissatisfied, I returned the item. I'll save my pennies and purchase a quality unit from a quality manufacturer, not this cheap Chinese junk.

This is an excellent value. Does a great job and at this price, I can afford to keep one in my truck as well as another one in my shop.

This is a Quality Digital Caliper at reasonable cost. Includes case to protect the caliper.

Battery was dead upon receipt...more an annoyance than a defect.

Digital display is large enough to read easily.

Case is padded and durable

Has a precision feel

Think it is made in China, without any loss of quality as best I can tell.
