This review is from: Neiko Pro Tools 5" Heavy Duty Air Angle Grinder (Misc.)
This was the cheapest 5" air grinder I could find. Even though it was the cheapest grinder I could find, at $90, its still about twice what a decent electric grinder costs and it fails to outperform the electric grinder. I bought it to use with my 13.2 cfm @ 90 psi air grinder. Despite that being quite a bit more than the grinder is claimed to use, even with the compressor at full tilt this grinder bogs and stalls. You end up having to develop a bit of a feel for feathing it over the metal. I am dissassembling some older trucks and grinding off a lot of rivets and seized bolt heads and the like, and this thing takes significantly longer than my electric grinder to accomplish the same task. I've never used an air grinder before, so maybe they are all like this. Very disappointed it comes with no grinding wheel. I had extra so it wasn't a big deal, but my $40 electric came with 5. Its also annoying that despite the fact that there is a full molded rubber cover for the grinder, they didn't put a sleeve or something to hold the special tools to change wheels.
The safety guard is held in place with 2 star bolts UNDER the grinding wheel. If you are like me, a lot of times you are stuffing the grinder into places it barely fits. Sometimes I like to take the safety guard off and its nice to be able to rotate the guard to clear tight areas. This guard can only be rotated 90 degrees to the left or right, and you must remove the wheel and use special star bits that aren't included with the grinder. I can't fathom a reason of using special star bolts for the guard, something that many users adjust. My other grinders use a single phillips head screw on a clamp around the body of the grinder, so you can rotate the safety guard infinitely and while using the grinder. This is a superior setup. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this grinder to a friend. It lacks power, even with over 10 cfm at 120 psi flowing to it, it isn't all that user friendly, and its not that much cheaper than models from better known names that have better features.
