2.0 out of 5 stars What else is New ?, July 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Neil Diamond, Solitary Star (Paperback)
So, I bought a few books on Amazon recently on one of my favorite singer/songwriters, Neil Diamond.
I have been a fan for a long time but, detail of much of his earlier career was generally not available to fans. He was, and still appears to be a private person.

So, seeing this book and the price was cheap, I thought 'summer reading'.
Little did I know, 'cheap' was a good description of this book. The only reason this book gets 2 stars is because it's about Neil Diamond.

This book was written from an overly negative slant. Like, let's trash Neil Diamond. The events may be fact but, in detail, what comes across loudly, is the dislike this author has for the man.
If Neil Diamond were sitting next to him at breakfast (never would happen)and he got toast that was burned, he'd probably say something like 'Neil refused his breakfast order and made the poor waitress make him another order...'

Great artists are always controversial and Neil Diamond, is no exception.
I respect his great talent.

This book had a few tidbits but, generally was the authors attempt at importance. :((

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting read, April 9, 2009
This review is from: Neil Diamond, Solitary Star (Paperback)
I am a Neil Diamond fan and found this book interesting but very negativily written. It was almost as tho the author did not like ND. Even when he found good things to say they were damned with faint praise. One is always doutbful at the accuracy when the person being written about has not substantiated the stories that have been told to the author by various people who have crossed paths with the person being written about. You only get one perspective. An authorised version would make a great read. I acknowledge Neil Diamond was asked to speak to the author and chose not to.I just hope one day he may write his own autobiography .
